I know Chasing Amy hasn’t.
I know Chasing Amy hasn’t.
I regrettably saw some of his “docu-series” about YouTuber Jake Paul and it was so irresponsible it made me sympathetic to Paul, for once. Everyone involved should’ve been ashamed of themselves and donated heavily to mental health organizations.
That’s the term. Thanks, I remembered it before but didn’t feel like wasting time trying to look it up.
I should’ve taken the chance on Meyers, but now I’m at the point where I don’t even have time to catch up on shows anymore.
Second City alums got to stick together, I guess.
What isn’t to like about Batiste saying “cold-blooded” in a “Dave Chappelle as Rick James” way 40 billion times during every monologue for months?
I have recently gave up on watching Colbert, probably for good. It’s the same Trump jokes over and over with the same cold opens with writer Brian Stack and the same tired bits. It made me appreciate the “current events comedy shows that air once a week” a lot more than the “5-days-a-week, old-fashioned showbiz talk…
First of all, thank you Maria for writing about Kpop. It’s a complicated topic that doesn’t get talked about enough (in maturer circles) because it’s still relatively new to our part of the world. The more people write about its glaring issues sincerely, the better the industry will hopefully become.
Literally 20% of all Koreans have the surname “Kim”. 3 out of the 7 members of BTS are named “Kim”.
O’Rourke wants to end the War on Drugs
Putting this out there by replying to myself and not anyone else, but do not support Phil DeFranco in any capacity. He’s had a history of sexism/chauvinism and racism (like most YouTubers). Plus he sucks, lol. Reporting on Kpop is not exactly Pulitzer territory, but at least there have been masterposts from the Kpop…
Ugh, I almost watched it because of all the guest appearances. Almost as if YGE knew no one outside of Seungri’s fans would watch it without well-liked YGE idols making cameos.
Seungri was always the Fredo Corleone of Big Bang, and I don’t even like Big Bang. Dude is a fuckboy and I’m glad the rest of the industry doesn’t have to pretend to respect him (by proxy) anymore.
This was definitely one of those shows where “critics loved it” but I never heard of it outside those circles. I’m sure the first season did okay, regardless.
Replying honestly, but there isn’t One Song anyone knows him from. He cut his teeth with an alternative country band called Whiskeytown in the 90's. I never cared much for them since Uncle Tupelo (and later on Wilco) existed, so I didn’t really notice Adams until he went solo in 2000.
It amazes me how people don’t see a hustle happening right in front of their eyes. He’s gotten well over 10 million subs in a short amount of time by constantly engaging in this pointless war while repeatedly insisting it’s no big deal if he loses.
I mean, it’s not like Kpop has some ancient Korean secret for better pop music. It’s pop music. You either like it or you don’t.
I think part of the problem is people build up celebrities so high to a point where those celebrities eventually come crashing down. People and sites latch onto certain famous people too hard, which is a recipe for being disappointed. But I also think everyday criticism isn’t “destroying” anyone, either. FWIW, Jezebel…
I suppose that’s the power of someone like Ariana Grande. Literally no one noticed Pete Davidson for years until one of the biggest pop stars (after a major breakup) deemed him worthy.
