I’ve actually got a COMPLETELY different impression of what’s going on there and think that’s a pretty obvious red herring.
I was thinking that we already saw the end results of a series of time loops with increasingly bad outcomes until we ended up with a ‘best case scenario’ of Thanos preventing the destruction of the Mind Stone but also succeeding with the snap (with the lesson being that Sacrificing others is ALWAYS BAD).
This isn’t what’s going on at all.

If only people could find a way to keep us from cheapening death so they could write those stories without half of us just ignoring them because ‘they have a movie coming out’ or ‘people like them’.
I think the writers have been very, very good about giving us the slices of the story the want and they’re choosing where they’re tethered to the comics.
