I’ve heard a few Subaru Fours that sounded really good; bassy and thrummy. I am not a fan of the obnoxiously loud crackle exhausts a lot of Soobs/Hondas have today though.

“Serve briefly as a boat”
Much as I think that truck is an ugly turd (and not super competent offroad) this is clearly a driver error issue.
Nothing collapsed. He landed with the gear up; I’d guess that was the plan.
Makes me wish I had that ‘75 Monte Carlo from high school back. Only without the rotted panels and rattle-can primer paint job. (Thanks Dad, you knucklehead..)
If he’d kept the gear up all along the reduced drag would’ve helped extend his glide and kept him away from the hangar. But I guess that depends on how far from the airport he was when the engine quit. Regardless, it worked out okay and everybody walked away.
Agreed. It’s as if he wanted to prove Darwin right.
The navy taught sailors to step off and drop like a pencil, feet-first holding your hand over your face. That way your feet break the water first. Might end up with some broken bits but you’ll be alive.
Passenger drinks, falls overboard and checks out. Cruise lines make LOTS of money selling booze. Royal Caribbean’s risk assessment folks have already crunched the numbers. A nice condolence card will be sent.
I recall Billy Crystal goofing on this at the Academy Awards, calling him Propeller Guy. Nice 5 spin tumble, but the French judge probably marked him down anyway.
Two knots? That ship cruises along at 18-20kts, assuming they were at cruise speed.
Lamest donut attempt ever. Did this fuckwit forget that truck is awd?
I am taking note of this
I bought a used ‘85 Dodge Omni in college, and it was the biggest POS out of the 16 cars I’ve owned. Head gasket, main bearings, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t even recall right now. I had that engine apart A LOT, and every time bar none I had screws or bolts left over. The damned thing still ran though.
I’m glad VW cleaned up its act by 1998; my first diesel was a ‘98 Jetta TDI which I kept for 11 years and sold with 210k miles still running great. (orig clutch too) Two more TDIs followed, a 2009 and a 2012 Passat. All 5 VeeDubs I owned were good cars but that’s probably because I had the ‘98 so long that I skipped…
Nonsense. Even in the King Air I fly, 2,000fpm is not going to bend anything. It’s the pullout at the bottom that has to be done gradually.
I bet she gets a DOT subsidy now. Because loopholes.
No flies following her with this one though.
I can’t post the link for some reason, but on the DoE’s website, on the alternative fuels data center page there’s a LONG list of incentives related to ethanol including a per-gallon subsidy. Here’s a snippet.
