If that isn't a poorly veiled slight based on your own opinion, then I don't know what is! MLB revenues are up nearly 100% since the turn of the century, so perhaps "what it is" is an organization that is doing its part (though, probably still small) to compensate the labor that, ya know, makes the organization

Which is still paltry compared to MLB, especially considering the substantially higher revenues earned by NFL over their own playoff period. Consider this from the 2013 WS Champion Red Sox:

You could take all of the points that you made and apply them to everything. So according to Diana M., everything must suck because it's predictable and has already happened so what's the point of exploring?! People with otherwise unassuming lifestyles must sometimes resort to selling drugs to afford basic needs! The

Yes, I saw that in an old Lifehacker article. The former of the two I purchased was exactly a week ago, so didn't have to cross that bridge.

You've been listening to "Serial" too, huh?

If the mom had access to the phone, why wouldn't she just pull the number? No need to text the victim to send it back.

Straw man galore, but OK.

I'm not saying he wasn't great or anything, I'm just saying that good luck moving him forward 40 years and assuming he could compete. Like I said - I'm of the thinking that the Ruth/Gehrig/Hornsby class of baseball player couldn't make a Major League roster today. They did things great in their era, as I'm sure that

Babe Ruth couldn't crack a Major League lineup in 2014 is kind of my point. Bert Jones isn't 1/5 of the athlete that any of these guys are today, and keep in mind that he did all of his excelling over players that aren't nearly as fast, tall, strong, athletic, etc. as the players of today. Still gonna stand by him not

I think it all depends on how you want to define "best season." If you normalize it, OK, I see your point, but I think it's fun to think that Luck might actually be the - just, period - best?

I'd be OK if this became (I guess it is already?) a recurring feature.

Billy Butler

Sam Miller and Russell Carleton took our respective sides on Baseball Prospectus (still free through the World Series!), and I think both put it aptly. Check it out.

a.) Re: Koufax/Gibson - c'mon, now. They were BABIP'ing their way to glory off of old Jake Peavy. You can't transpose success versus one pitcher and apply to another.

Hahaha, yes. All true.

This is all true. Only thing disagree with is "...Huddy is a veteran who is absolutely preparing to give you full effort..." I'm sure Jake Peavy was a veteran who was etc. etc., too. The general lines of this thinking though, I can see.

Fair enough, and I see your reasoning all the same.

Well, actually, I have haha.
