I think tweets help a lot too. Dozens of artists, from high profile acts to indie acts, have shown support for Kesha. At the very least, this is terrible PR for Luke. Snoop Dog who’s a friend of both Luke and Kesha’s tweeted support for her. Nicki Minaj unfollowed Luke on Twitter. Even Fiona Apple who’s famously

Years ago Taylor won an award at one of the major award shows. She was less high profile at the time so she was sitting further back. Kesha was seated in an aisle seat. As Taylor was walking up to the stage to get her award she stopped and hugged Kesha. There both from Nashville, Kesha’s mom is a country songwriter,

This was just a hearing for an injunction. The first big hearing in her case will be in May. Despite not getting the injunction, it seems like this judge is actually very fair. She already threw out lawsuits against Kesha’s mother and manager. And she originally ruled that Kesha’s case should be heard in California

To be fair, those tweets are risky for many of these artists because they have so little power and are under pretty oppressive contracts.

I don’t think she’s wrong because this kind of abuse is so common in the music industry. She’s asking the few women who have power to stand up for the majority of female artists who don’t have it. That’s why I think it’s so great that Gaga and Demi are being so outspoken on this. And disappointing that Taylor,

You can read the injunction itself. The lawyer who wrote it doesn’t say the contracts should be voided due to Kesha’s allegations. She gives a completely different explanation for why they should be voided. You can read it here:

Every musician who tweets is taking a risk. Especially the many Sony artists who’ve shown support for Kesha. I’m with Demi on this.

Yes but she made a comeback with her feature on Timber. She had a massive worldwide hit with that. Timber went to #1 in early 2014. She had a big opportunity to bounce back, so I’m surprised Sony didn’t make some kind of deal with her before the lawsuit was filed.

Taylor isn’t signed to Sony. Her label Big Machine is part of Universal. Apparently Big Machine has some kind of publishing deal with Luke, so that may explain why she hasn’t said anything.

Yes and we may get more details soon. The judge asked Kesha to submit evidence to the court.

I’m actually suprised Miley hasn’t said anything. But apparently Kesha has been confiding in Miley over the years about her troubles with Luke. I wonder if this means Miley will have to testify in the case and if that could explain why she hasn’t said anything.

I’m so happy to see she’s finally getting some real support.

It would help a lot if other artists boycotted Luke’s production company until he frees Kesha. Lorde had actually expressed an interest in working with him prior to Kesha filing her lawsuit. She obviously won’t work with him after this. So this could be hurting his business. His cashcow Katy Perry has been silent so

You can now but it was probably not when Kesha originally signed to Luke in 2005.

I love this tweet.

Its bad for everyone. The labels have almost complete power over artists

I think she could win on appeal. She made a pretty good case for an injunction.

This is her injunction request. I really think she made a strong case to get one.

Kesha originally accused Luke of rape in 2005. According to a Billboard article she went to a lawyer in 2005 for help getting out of her contract. She tried to get the contract renegotiated again in 2011 to put some space between them and that didn’t work out. This is her third attempt to escape his control.

This was just an injunction request to allow her to work while her case goes through the legal system. She has another court date in May. I’m not sure what that’s for.
