“Mrs. Doubtfire” is, let’s face it, a pretty mediocre comedy.

I think they do a good job of making the audience not hate Stu. We laugh at Robin Williams fucking with him because Williams is hilarious but I don’t think the audience is supposed to feel any animosity toward him. If anything, I feel like Williams’ character is the one who comes off as the asshole of the movie,…
True, though the whiteness of their day trip to the Claremont pool rings true to the time I ate at the in-house restaurant and Danville (where Bridges is located) is certainly pretty white.
Oh, for sure. Still awful and unhinged, just marginally closer to something resembling a rational line of reasoning haha
I’m sad to report that the restaurant Bridges does not actually have a table 39 :(
Jesus, rabid shippers are absurd. And for some reason they always seem to go after the actors rather than, y’know, the people who write the show and control what the characters say and do...
I’m 100% with you but one thing that always seems strange to me is how Stu tells the waiter, “Not spicy,” and then as an afterthought mentions that he’s allergic to pepper.
I literally cannot handle raw meat without saying, “As I hold this cold meat, I’m reminded of Winston.”
Agreed but I’m getting really nervous that they’re preparing to kill her off since a) the G&G crew has a really high mortality rate and b) she’s getting a ton of screen time and, as far as I’m aware, Shannon Purser still isn’t a series regular.
I know he’s the namesake character but I wish the writers would just kill off Archie “make my bones” Andrews. IMO his storylines are consistently and significantly less interesting than literally everything else happening and half the time it doesn’t even feel like he’s on the same show as the other characters. He’s…
Agreed, it seems totally in character. It’s just a matter of the context of that line being completely different with or without that cut moment. I think it’s pretty funny with either context.
I get 2 and 3 but what does Meet Rebecca refer to?
Then her character from Beaches should fit the bill or else maybe a pineapple.
Winifred Sanderson or an avocado.
I’m still working my way theough the episode shows but I’ve listened to probably 2/3 of them and went to the live show with Michelle Wolf and Florence Welch. Off the top of my head, the only two LGBTQ specific episodes I can remember are about youth suicide and HIV (and the second one is not even complete LGBTQ…
Re: the LGBTQ category, it’s kinda strange to me that Getting Curious is on there considering the only LGBTQ aspect of it is that the host is a famous gay person. It also strikes me as weird that Queery with Cameron Esposito isn’t nominated.
Oh, thank god! I was starting to worry this episode wasn’t going to happen. Downloading now!
According to today’s Good Place podcast episode, FNB and BNG are also Finding Nemo references. It’s Financing Nemo Bank and Buying Nemo Groceries. The writers thought it would be funny if all the Australian businesses changed their names in 2004 because they were so proud of Finding Nemo taking place in Australia.
If…
My immediate reaction is that this is my favorite episode so far or, at the very least, my absolute favorite episode for Chidi.
I just finished listening to the Good Place podcast of this episode and it had an amazing tidbit about:
With how many times they referenced proving they were more than animals, I kept expecting Regina Spektor’s voice to come belting out of the speakers any moment.
That “you’ll fly too” line really rubbed me the wrong way. The Loser’s Club meeting at the mayor’s office was enough of an It allusion; they really didn’t…
