I made a small mistake at work like 8 months ago, but that small mistake was printed on packages that have been sold in stores since then, so the store finally noticed and now they're pissed, and now work is pissed at me, and I might have to help pay whatever costs the store charges them

What's mostly giving me pause with regard to The Book of Strange New Things is that I felt that the description of the environment was fascinating and very visceral, and I'm not sure a visual medium could do that justice. And of course there's the danger that if they try, it could turn into a CGI nightmare, or look

They're making a TV series out of The Book of Strange New Things?! I loved the novel, but… I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm not sure it will translate well into another medium. Though I'm curious to see how they go about it.

It is rather marvellous (no pun intended).

I really want Mads Mikkelsen in it too, even if it were just a cameo/one-off appearance. Mads playing any kind of deity would be marvellous.

"Back at ya", as I believe the Yanks say!

ICP! Hope your absence here has been due only to good things.

Read The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins last week. It was good, kept me hooked, and the main character was interesting to follow. But it in the end, it wasn't really my thing. Too Gone Girl, maybe, in the arseholery levels of its characters.

Fuck my recent batshit sleep issues. Mostly, I'll wake up wrecked after three or four hours, and can then either get up and feel like shit all day, or maybe I'll fall asleep again after two or three hours of feeling unable to get up, and then wake up at some ridiculous time of day. I work freelance from home, or this

This may be of no use to you, but what has helped me escape that feeling, over the years, is seeing just how bad most other people are at their jobs. And how breezily most of those people walk away from the mess.

"Well, that was a fun bit of business!"

I hated the original MacGyver because I just couldn't stand the main character. He was never remotely as punchable as this chap, though. *shudder*

Thanks! I found it eventually, but only after I'd re-sorted the threads to "Newest first". Stupid Disqus.

Finished The Given Day by Dennis Lehane, which was pretty great, although one of the main characters was perhaps a bit too good to be true. Interesting portrait of a time and society, and some of the themes are very topical. Mind you, one does slightly sense that that's why Lehane is writing about them, i.e there's a

I wish they hadn't stopped covering 12 Monkeys.

Well, it's really outdoing itself today then. There are a bunch of random comments flying around too.

Is there no books thread, or is Disqus just being even shittier than usual?

Happy Birthday!

Person of Interest gets really, really good towards the end of season one and then stays that way. I second @matthew_stechel:disqus, you should definitely give it a go sometime.
