Any HPDE session I’ve done in my 2.5L Golf has been fine. The temp needle never moves. I’m sure most of that is down to the fact that it doesn’t have a lot of power to start with...

How stiff is the suspension really?

Now that’s a MINI I would drive all day just like Mark Wahlberg.

Don’t you be touching my Golf R, I’m still years away from affording one.

They had to integrate a “flying car mode” to the traction / stability control system to handle the ‘Ring lapping so it’s interesting this still happens.

My dad drove a 2001 Passat 1.8T black on black with chrome stripes and that was one of my favourite cars he’s had. It looked classy enough for business but not super uptight. It was right around when I started driving too so TipTronic was a fun experience.

I’m 6'4" with most of my height in my torso and I sat in one at the local auto show. The top of my head was above the windshield frame so I don’t think I could ever drive one.

I finally saw one of these on the road today in Ottawa. Sweet car, loud and super, super low. I am sad.

Anyone see enough to make furniture?

Robots prefer Mustang Terminators.

I did this (sort of) last week as a gift to myself. After signing the intimidating waiver about owing them an arm and leg if I send it to the armco, I decided that I would take the instructor’s advice and leave it in 4th gear to better adjust my lines. Was still super fast and way faster than my Golf. Fortunately

To be fair that generation of Mazda 3 rusts after a good rainstorm.

1st: 4 cylinder turbo is like the ecoboost engines turned up to 11: you can have eco or boost but not both together, and by the sounds of things, you’ll be getting a lot more boost than eco. And while cruising it might sound like a dirtbike!

I’m not yet sure about its forever car status, but if I can afford to keep it running when I get something newer, I want to. It’s one of those things where everything is so familiar. It’s also reaching that balance point where it’s nice enough that I love driving it but largely worthless as a trade in.

Are there statistics for crashes caused by things that might have been avoided by using a camera? Will it be possible in say, 5 years time, to see if the cameras have reduced injuries?

Living in Ottawa I see diplomatic plates quite often and there’s a sweet VW Scirocco floating around near the office on German red plates. I like to think they are diplomatic Jalops.

Man, must be nice to have prices like this in the US. Here in Canada 2018 Focus RSes are $60k CAD all day.

Not any more, but you can likely find new stock of 2016-2017 models.

Keeping my even-less-practical 2 door for as long as possible, thanks! Now let’s hope that VW keeps the Golf R around so I can buy one of those soon.

I think the rule is generally if you can eat it in one meal, hit it instead. I have not tested this theory.
