If MB is trying to essentially mimic BMW with the GLE, why are they killing off the ML? Most people say cargo/people room in the X5 is much greater than the X6 so why eliminate a vehicle with reasonable practicality for something that does have any?

What's up with the 3 across rear landing gear on this bird? I want to say Airbus A340 which Wiki says has a unique configuration. Is there a significant advantage to having the extra 2 wheels, especially compared to the middle 4 wheels of the A340-500?
