I bought my 2.5L Golf because I was looking for my first car and put driving dynamics ahead of economy. I didn't want to get stuck in an appliance like a Civic or Yaris, and I love German engineering. Sure, the 2.5L engine is now outdated and isn't particularly efficient around town, but cruising on the highway and

That road surface plus a low weight, 4WD car like that looks like way too much fun.

I like your style!

1. In Canada, CTV is carrying most of the main Olympic coverage, and if it's like the 2010 games, they should do a fantastic job. I think you'll still be able to pick up the OTA signal over the border, but in my experience, the signal is somewhat weaker.

I drive a turd?

Do you know of a good way to distinguish JCW Minis from the normal S? I always find myself peering at the side badges.

That is a brilliant resolution.

You're probably right, Bill, but I'd use the opportunity to just go for a test drive! :D

Truth! Maybe put more weight into the "Value" category.

I look forward to when my Golf lease finishes up and I get to go test drive all these new, sporty cars. Let's see, there's the GTI, Focus ST, STI, Mini JCW, BRZ...

If I might quote J Clarkson, "How do they get such a small amount of horsepower from such a big engine?"

Yes, this is epic.

Nice, that reaffirms my decision to move from Golf to GTI when my lease is up. I just hope premium gas is still affordable by then.

I want an M3.

I think it would be more like a flight data recorder, given that you can't possibly record every moment of your drive. I'd like to know if there's a system that only records the previous, say, 2 hours, so that all you need to do is grab the footage after the fact.

So awesome. Also the more there is posted about Vettel, the cooler the guy becomes.

How about putting it on the left side of the driver's footwell, like a parking brake? That would make it easy to operate, but might cut down on evil people disabling your car when you roll the window down (as someone else mentioned).

I followed the presentation yesterday (I'm an iPhone developer) and just noticed that Audi is there but VW is absent. Hopefully the parent company includes the option at some point, as I'd love to have it in my GTI when I get one at the end of my current lease.

Probably, but that's probably what it might cost to etch/engrave 4 wheels separately afterwards.

Maybe manufacturers can take the etching idea further and offer a laser-engraved service from the factory. I guess that's something to do during the winter when the snows are on.
