It can be. What’s your point?

Meh. I guess its nice that there is official recognition that LGBTQ violence is an issue, but the states that have passed this law are places where the defense is least likely to be successful. Just like the insanity defense- it’s there but it rarely succeeds.

Predicting WW3 is not the same as predicting an economic downturn. The former might never happen. The latter is guaranteed to occur. The only question is when and how severe.

If factory stores are destined to be total failures, then why do all the franchise laws currently outlaw it? Because the dealerships want protection. Why do they want it? Same reason Tesla doesn’t want it- greed.

Yeah, but isn’t state government controlled by Republicans? Outside of a couple of Democratic cities, isn’t the state mostly Red?

If the gift was one way (we get a gift, we did no reciprocate in any way), then a thank you note is usually sent. But where gifts are exchanged, or we threw a party and got gifts, a verbal thank you suffices.

Lol, what? Defending dealerships is probably not the hill you want to die on. I suspect most readers here would be perfectly happy to buy from manufacturers and let the dealers convert to service only.

I suspect most manual “elitists” would be fine driving an automatic crossover. It’s the sports cars that we complain about.

Yikes, I was told to stop hating on the Fancy Kristen articles (which I still think are stupid and have no place on Jalopnik) in one of my comments. This takedown seems 2x as bad. The only legit complaint is driving with high beams. That’s just shit. But not knowing how to wrench? Or being lazy about compliance with

Almost every luxury brand sneaker is derivative of a Nike, Adidas or other major sneaker manufacturer. They just add embellishments (for the most part).

Now you’re just being obtuse. Is protectionism part of free market capitalism? Why is free market capitalism one of the reasons why Republicans oppose Obamacare? Because the truth is that Republicans are NOT concerned with the people they actually represent, but rather the people who line their pockets.

Pedantry on kinja. Your responses are the only ones challenging my nomenclature so I would guess that laissez faire capitalism is how everyone else understood it.

This is hilarious. If I modify capitalism with laissez faire, will you go away?

jesus christ, you want me to put laissez faire in front of capitalism? That’s the shorthand here, and that’s what Republicans mean when they say capitalism.

I was being sarcastic. To most Republicans, anything not laissez faire is communism.

The Republican belief is that the free market is better for its constituency. The country is better off with unfettered capitalism rather than government planned economies. That’s what they keep saying. So if you actually believe it, then yeah, politicians should allow Tesla to sell cars anyway they want because the

Yeah, that’s exactly why the Republican argument that they are all for capitalism and the free market is bullshit. Yet every time they eliminate regulations that protect things that Democrats support, they trot out the “let the market decide” and “capitalism is better than communism” bullshit.

Democrats don’t run on platforms touting deregulation. In CT’s case, it is the polar opposite, so it’s on brand.

They get a cut of revenue plus the franchisees have to buy all the food and supplies from corporate at fees set by corporate. Whether CFA’s 15% is highway robbery really depends on the mark-up for the other stuff. Ultimately, I would not be surprised if the end results are similar across most fast-food brands.

I had no idea there were so many communists in red states. Republicans need to just admit that they are not opposed to regulations, just the regulations that don’t benefit their constituents.
