The yellow is no bueno. It washes her out. I think Hillary’s wardrobe manager might be feeling the Bern. :-/

I still prefer Bernie though I wish he would let up with the repetitive WALL STREET IS THE DEVIL talk. I mean they are, but enough.

Thank you for your comments here. I felt like I was losing my mind with all the people defending Albright’s comments. I’m sick of being called sexist for supporting Bernie over Hillary. I’m sick of being told that supporting Bernie means I don’t care about women’s rights, or that I should have my feminist card

It isn’t that there are too few of them, it’s that they wouldn’t risk alienating their voting base by tipping the nomination. Remember, most of them backed Hillary in ‘08, but changed their vote when it became clear Obama was going to win with the actual voters.

You got that right about the electoral college. You’re the first person to note the similarity. And SCOTUS used that loophole to ignore Gore’s popular vote victory in 2000. That certainly worked out just fabulously.

If they’re inconsequential then why do they exist at all?

Where are the resumes of these superdelegates? What makes them less dumb than regular voters?

It is hardly inconsequential, it’s 15% of the delegates. It is absolutely enough to override the popular vote.

There was never any concern about not being able to count votes fast enough. That was never the reason. Counting votes wasn’t a big deal (it’s all done in small local districts within districts just like today) they just didn’t expect overnight results.

Except that some of them aren’t smarter than either one of us...and smart doesn’t equal 2 votes.

I’m supporting Bernie but I like Hillary. However, her campaign plays dirty AF (like the Republicans, actually, in a weird way) and has been spreading a huge disinformation campaign on his plans for healthcare and taxes. I’ve even seen people on here post it. So....he really really really needs to get out and

The electoral college was always about voter suppression. The superdelegates are like a mini electoral college, except the votes can be bought. Hillary had 350 pledges before the first debate even took place. It’s complete nonsense.

Fair enough. I can sort of see the logic for why the party thought they might need them (and if I were a Republican right now, I’d likely be glad they exist in the face of a terrifying Trump nomination). They are indeed inherently undemocratic by their very nature though.

The delegation is a form of voter suppression, in a modern society where votes can be gathered and assessed with amazing speed and accuracy.

I don’t think the vote is fixed, but I do think the system is rigged. Well, I KNOW the system is rigged. That’s what those of us disillusioned voters are fighting against. Anyway, the popular vote winner will win. I’m not stressing it.

its a fail safe for the party that probably will never be used

The whole system is designed that way and has been from the beginning. In the Federalist Papers, Alexander Hamilton basically said common people were too stupid to vote. That’s why we have an electoral college. So people smarter than you or I can decide who’s best to govern.

“It’s never happened before” isn’t particularly reassuring. I’d much rather that the DNC didn’t have the option in the first place. Superdelegates are inherently undemocratic and antithetical to representative democracy.

i mean just on principle

I don’t think it is biased to acknowledge that he went from “that guy? LOLZ” to where he is at now. That is a mark of excellent campaigning, no matter who you plan to vote for.
