Another cold-weather option: a “disposable” hoodie. My local Goodwill sells adult sweatshirts for five bucks. I toss it to the side once the race starts. The more organized events even have people who collect thme after the race to give to charity.

One of my friends had a party for her single friends in which everyone had to bring a friend of the opposite gender who they weren’t interested in romantically. It was much better than going to a singles meetup full of randoes.

At work, I replaced a woman who had been fired, and they directed all her emails to my inbox. After seeing what came through, I never used my work email for anything other than work. On the plus side, I did get lots of invitations to meet up with her Evangelical Christian singles group.
