Statute of limitations begins to run from the date of the incident, or in the case of fraud, then from the date you knew, or should have known.

Civil and criminal standards of proof are different, so they’re not really interlinked.

The standard of proof in a civil case is by a preponderance of the evidence,” which is lower than a criminal case’s “beyond a reasonable doubt.”  So basically, it’s easier to show that they engaged in the alleged behavior in the civil suit (this is why, for example, OJ was successfully sued for $$ in a civil wrongful

I hope it humiliates the offenders. I'm sure they're banking on acting like these were victimless crimes. I hope when they make their PR firm-arranged comeback interviews, the interviewer talks about the victims of their crimes.

There is a very good chance that we are simply destined to weather a steady drizzle of A Star Is Born content for a good chunk of the foreseeable future

I’ve heard rumors that BCoop is gay for years. I have really no opinion on whether he is or not, and I don’t consider it a negative. He can be gay or straight or bi or fluid or whatever floats his boat. But Jennifer Esposito’s “ha” might have more depth to it.

Between my psoriasis and my hypothyroidism the skin on my face is really, really rough. I was doing light treatment, but it started burning so I quit. I’m down to sea buckthorn face masks and a silicon scrubbie to keep my face ‘smooth’ enough to slather foundation on before I leave everyday. Hopefully the oil cleanser

That is fantastic, and a testament to both your work ethic and your talent to be recognized by your great-gran boss. Congrats on getting the credit and I hope this means wonderful things for your future!

We’re between Snow Wednesdays here in KC, so half of us have upper respiratory infections and the other half are half mad with spring fever. I wasn’t the only one filling a basket with seed packets at the Grass Pad today, not by a long shot. Nor was I the only one in short sleeves.

I met my birth mother and spent ten days with her in Portland. Also met my two half-sisters and nieces and nephew.

Flying out to Austin for an interview on Monday. Pray it doesn't dump snow again here in Seattle here everyone!  In other news of course I just ran out of heating oil!

Especially on mobile! Always makes me wonder if it’s just super glitchy or intentional to get the click through rate on ads up.

It's an ITMFA button.

Weekly Achievement Thread! Let us know how you’ve kicked this week’s ass. What amazingness did you get up to? Let us crow along with you?

I shut down a troll at a public meeting I was at today. And a young woman approached me afterwards to say thank you. We hit it off instantly, spent the next 30 minutes talking, exchanged contact information, and she gave me the button she was wearing before we headed on our respective ways. It was a good day.

A diagnosis of PCOS or a thyroid thing could be really helpful. Try to think about that as a positive; it’s always easier when you know what you’re dealing with.

Anyone else having Kinja issues recently? I’ve been out of the grays on Jezebel for years, but a couple weeks ago my posts stopped showing up completely; not even in the grays. My account doesn’t seem to be affected on any other GMG site, just Jez. I emailed Kinja support, but of course didn’t hear anything back, so I

I was up for a temporary promotion, but they gave it to some man who 1) already had one before and 2) sucks ass at communicating cross-program, a major job duty.

I’m was to say it’s not been a good week for me; nothing terrible has happened but I have let the dozens of little stresses get to me and I've found it super difficult to remove myself from the situations or to find the solitude I need.

I just need to rant. I’m just utterly miserable the job stress is almost unbearable and I seem to screw up every 10 minutes so there’s also my anxiety catastrophzing constantly about how I’m about to be fired or that I won’t get renewed even though I don’t want to come back next year I really don’t have a choice.
