Congratulations, this deserves a star and to be un-grayed.

Good to know, thanks for the info.

Yeah I had given an NA some serious thought about 4 years ago for a project car and I lucked out and found a cheaper one with a hardtop on a used car lot. I showed up with a motorcyle helmet to try and gauge headroom and it was no bueno. I’ve read about the tricks like taking 2 inches off the bottom of the seat

It’s not gonna work for you. I suckered the sales guy on the floor at the Detroit Auto Show to opperate the hardtop for me and at 6'1" (admittedly 6'.5" realistically) my forehead was brushing against the “hump” towards the front of the headliner that must house some of the top mechanism. :( That definitely broke

Does that actually have head room and how much do they cost?

I sat in the RF at the Detroit Autoshow and suckered the sales guy walking around to operate it up and down. I’m 6'1" and my forehead was brushing against the headliner with it closed. No way I never get a helmet in that. Pretty much broke my heart.

The Third Party Buy Back Coordinator and likewise the dealership employees don’t have a damn thing to do with this and it isn’t their fault. They don’t deserve the abuse.

I fucking HATE Walmart and what it stands for with a passion, but on the rare occassions that I shop there because nothing else is open at the time

Although it was deceptive and clearly done for profit, I’m glad the guy with the damaged gasser car parts at least got paid out. Stunts like stripping the car could hurt someone who legitimately got in an accident with their car leading up to the buy out and didn’t want to repair it. Those people shouldn’t have to.

I

Autozone, Adavanced, O’Reilly’s, NAPA, Carquest, etc. are only good for an immediate gotta have it emergency purchase if you’re driving a very common domestic car. Try finding parts on the fly for an 84 VW Rabbit GTI like mine, or even a newer Euro Car.

I typically shop in this order:

1) Specialized Online Retailer

RA is on my shit list after they sent me a blatantly obvious used and defective part. I ordered a pair of brake drums and what I was sent was one perfectly good new one in a clean unopened box, and a second one with totally different unmarked packaging (although to be fair it DID have the same part# on the label)

I’d be more impressed if they built their own chassis. As it is they are still modifying what Porsche made. Yeah they did a bang up job, but most of the impressive part are the interior/exterior; The suspension tuning can be done as well if not better elsewhere. And is this safer in a crash than a 964 of the same era?

First time I have seen the green and purple one and it looks spectacular while being the absolute last color combo I would have ever picked!

Same thing with the blue and red color combo on the other Singer at the Detroit Auto Show. When I saw pics of it online I thought “God why would you pick those 2 colors?” but in

I know these cost as much as a house. They are better than a house.

*sigh* You’re making me sad Patrick, my 84 GTI is hibernating in the garage for winter and I really do want to drive it today. :(

My 91 Honda Prelude Si with the illustrious B21a was “thirsty”. I went about 400 miles before I needed a quart of oil again. :( It was habit for me to fill the gas and top off the oil. Those motors were kind of terrible. The valve seals and/or piston rings on them were pretty flawed, and if you bothered to

Similar used to happen at some events back home. Take a car (or snowmobile), have people bet on how long it would take to blow up, 5-10 second intervals, $1 or $5 per slot. Drain oil, fire it up and throw a brick on the throttle. Winner gets half pool (other half goes to whatever non-profit is supporting. Basically

Ugh, wish I would have seen the original post Kristen made. I have a good one.

So one of my longest relationships and the closest a woman has come to being “the one” started with me meeting here in a parking lot in my flaming POS beater S-10 Blazer.

At the time, I had just sold my good “fun car” and the plan was at

Outstanding! a few years ago Indiana got sued by an actual cop who had his “OINK” license plate revoked by the state. He argued that it wasn’t offensive because it was making fun of himself on his own personal car and he sued on the grounds of freedom of speech with the help of the ACLU. Eventually he won, and the

Neutral: Do Big Debuts Even Need To Happen At Auto Shows?

I’ve always loved these things. They were like a concept car that actually got built as is. So unique and ahead of it’s time. Like the Subaru SVX.

So how reliable are these suckers? Are there any major maintanence issues to look out for? I could see this being just about the ONLY CUV or SUV I would willingly

My father’s philosophy is that we hate to drive our dad’s cars. So his parents had a wagon. That means his generation can’t have wagons, so they bought minivans. My generation now can’t have minivans, so we bought SUVs. Maybe eventually it will cycle back.
