I remember that test. I think they said that Gordon was about 1s off of Montoya’s pace, which was pretty impressive considering he had no seat time prior.

Tony Stewart did a similar experience, but on a non F1 track and in the wet, he was still able to drive pretty fast. Most NASCAR drivers are true racers, and cup cars are no joke, amazingly fast and hard to drive. That “cannot turn right” shit is played out.

IIRC they said he would have qualified mid-pack based on the previous year’s times when he drove that Williams too.
