power per-liter is only a useful metric in racing classes where that is a restriction. In the real world, power per pound, per physical size, and per unit of fuel is what actually matters. Displacement is entirely arbitrary.

You’re not generating 1.21 GW with diesel or steam. Doc Brown had the perfect fuel choice already: nuclear. The power density allows you to carry enough for several time-travel journeys, and you can return to your “present” to refuel when you need to.
