If correct, perhaps a cause could be maybe different axle ratios in 4x2 vs 4x4

I could spend hours putting together a comprehensive list, but just a few minutes here for things off the top of my head:
Wonderful story and great post!
Shhhh! No one answer this! - these types of questions are exactly what we will need to thwart the upcoming robot takeover! The only way to win will be to pose these type of logic issues to them, where they will spiral into an uncontrollable logic loop until exploding!
I really like these, and this one certainly has some good stuff in it. What’s with the goofy letters in the engine bay? They’d certainly have to go...
When I was a much younger gearhead, I had an earlier Jaguar XJ6 with a Chevy V8 conversion. Being a youngin, I wanted it to have a cooler exhaust. Stupidly I didn’t like the XJ6 exhausts that turned out to the sides, and wanted to get Monza tips for quad outlets.
LIDAR solutions will definitely get cheaper and higher resolution now that a market is appearing. In all reality, what applications for LIDAR have there been otherwise, especially high resolution 360 degree types?
NP if you want a Beetle - it seems complete and rust free with a lot of the hard stuff done. So if you just want to cruise, this isn’t a bad way to go - can finish up the other stuff later.
I always find the electronic and reprogramming parts to be interesting to read about. The interconnections of these systems is definitely more complex these days, and very cool they were able to track down each and resolve.
Thats right! I was kinda thinking of that a bit too, it would seem to be cheaper to build a unibody cab and adapt on a frame based bed as a subframe. Such construction has also gone on for years in the opposite direction - like early Camaro’s with their subframe front ends.
Thought - while yes, this car did once run, do you think there was ever a time in which EVERYTHING worked on this car correctly?
You know why us gearheads love these kinds of things? Because we all dream of posting the perfect before and after pic. Finding the great “before” pic is easy, case in point, this Jensen Interceptor.
Regarding unibody vs. Body on Frame - I agree with others and don’t see BOF disappearing anytime soon, and possibly never. (Though, never is an awful long time...) The fact remains true HD pickups and commerical light-duty trucks do well with frames.
This one is borderline for sure - but I’ll go ahead and lean to NP, assuming there’s some wiggle room on the price, and I’d like to see/hear the motor. I’m less worried about the trans, which can be repaired when a new clutch is put in. The motors health is more of a concern - and it could be something…
Thanks! Really it’s for me to wonder how much I’d regret not getting the manual, lol. I do commute in major stop and go traffic, but live in a rural area so plenty of cruising roads out my back door.
Wondering if the deals are gone as dealers recognize this is the last of the bunch. Quick search in 100 mi radius and cheapest listed new on AutoTrader is 46,500...
Comment I will regret:
Better tape those headlight doors closed rather than fix them.
It’s a shame people will use what they want or don’t want to infringe on another persons personal property rights. Just because you don’t like something someone does - just leave them be.
Where’s all the Stone Cold Steve Austin memes? It’s obviously his British twin! He’s gonna put the stone cold stunner on that bus after his pint
