I suspect what happened is she tried to sue Lyft, her counsel told her look they got loads of money you are going to lose, so she tried suing the guy hoping he couldn’t afford a good attorney.

Insurance should not be a for-profit industry, especially health/dental/vision and any insurance one is required to have like auto. Its a scam, these big companies trying to find reasons to not pay you back or to charge you more if you use the service you are paying for.

If you’re in Canada, I’d suggest Allstate. Their base rates are pretty good and there are lots of discounts available for students, safety gear, winter tires, clean driving records, home/car packages, multi-year clean driving records, and if you agree to being monitored via their app discounts for safe driving.

State Farm did not make the list. Which is odd since they’re the largest auto insurance provider in the country. I’ve been pretty satisfied with them.
