I'd much rather have children play with Minecraft which incorporates social elements and the all-powerful redstone in it, than I would get them to mess with Legos, whose only value over Minecraft is that it's tactile. I can see Lego Mindstorm being an exception though, but it is quite expensive.

The problem with the Virtual Boy is that like other 3D displays it doesn't remove the effect of the eyes converging at a near point like normal 2D displays. In fact, I recall it just makes it worse especially since the display is so close.

I got frustrated with it too at first, but I had a feeling the intent was to treat them like Lemmings in which they are just simple one-track minded creatures. After viewing it like that, it was a lot more tolerable and even fun in some cases. Crazy what perception can do for your experience.
