This look was very heavily marketed, believe it or not. Keep in mind back in the eighties, magazines like Tiger Beat were the main source of “heartthrob” photos/stories/promotions of the latest actors, and said actors were very, very carefully presented as harmless, doe eyed, and non threatening.
