You're not alone. ;)

I do feel like if this were, say, one of the Kardashians, the response - both from Kara and from the commenters - would be different.

I really hate that she rode a baby elephant in Thailand that was most likely taken from it's mother and abused.

I love RiRi but her use of fur really, really annoys me. Her and Beyonce. JUST STOP IT.

Like I said, I'm fairly indifferent. Her music doesn't do much for me, but I also don't find it grating. She seems to be a positive role model. I never said I had a problem with it, but was agreeing that the Beyonce worship did seem to just take over out of nowhere. It could definitely be worse.

I asked Kara this exact question not 5 minutes ago. I'm still in the greys so I doubt I will get an answer but I'll just park it here and watch for your responses. Honestly I don't know how it's not, or if Beyoncé gets a pass because Beyoncé.

Beyonce is Jezebel's celebrity crush du jour. She can do no wrong. For now.

You know, I'm kinda indifferent to Beyonce. Her music is as ok as any other pop that comes on the radio or whatever. I like that she publicly calls herself a feminist. If its controversial, I think it's still a good thing to be talking about.

So this is going to cause a shitstorm....

I hope you're not nervous anymore. Not being a fan is Beyonce is not a big deal. With any luck, you'll be able to move on from this difficult announcement and continue living your life in peace. Good luck.

you know what? i'm going to admit something. i'm nervous about saying it, but i need to put it out there.

But see, that analogy doesn't make any sense. A non native wearing traditional NA clothing on a rez isnt exactly condoned so

its Beyonce we don't question what she does

Were you going to go with "traditional Thai clothing, in Thailand, is different than traditional Native American clothing in America..." and then realized?

of course every country does, but not ever country is functioning under military rule. i study brazil and lusophone africa and during the military dictatorship and colonialism for both areas, respectively, the govt worked with the tourist industries to get people to vacation or migrate there, using the natural

So are we calling this cultural appropriation? I get confused about where the line is.

i think i am going to be sick. also, just a quick reminder, thailand is currently ruled by a prime minister who was one of the members of the military that staged the coup last year. oh and there's no democracy at present. but ya know, yayyyyy spending money and going on vacation. woohoo!!!

Thai ceremonial headdresses: cool. Native American ceremonial headdresses: not cool. Remember that for Coachella next year, kids!

those are definitely the same trees.
