I thought it was an amazing typo!

Garth is a legend. He's been a prominent supporter of gay rights (his sister is a lesbian) in the front of some pretty hideous criticism from country fans. Songs like 'We shall be free' (also shared here) show that he's one of those Christians who think the love one another stuff is more important than the eye for an

You know what though? I take my original comment back. That is the most fortunate of typos. Lol!

It is indeed. I'm sitting in a dark room nursing a baby, firing off comments on my phone . . . It makes for some fun typos!

He had a dong in the nineties about a woman who kills her abusive husband.

"He had a dong in the nineties..."

Sublime. +1

I remember when Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were pretty much the only country music stars to support the Dixie Chicks when they criticized Bush. That alone made me love them more.

He had a dong in the nineties...

oh man, I was really stereotypically expecting the guy to be a cowboy type and it's Dweebybeard the Bespectacled. Also, this is soooooo 90s.

Seriously though, the pretty realistic makeup on her domestic violence wounds leads me to believe this is legit progressive for the time. I would have liked Garth Brooks more if

*bows to you*

It's not just cheating/getting caught. He abuses her and he gets physical when she confronts him about the cheating. The video shows that story- she defends herself and shoots him.

He's an Obama supporter who's performed at gay rights marches and written songs about what the world would be like if there wasn't any bigotry or poverty. And he's pretty much always been public about that sort of thing, even back when I was a kid and he was at the height of his career.

I think he definitely means to be an ally. Is he doing the right thing? I don't really know. But this isn't an attempt to pander to conservative fans. I mean, Brooks performed at Obama's inauguration, which is not really something you do if you want to court the Tea Party crowd.

I've always had a soft spot for him, he's like if a middle school math teacher inexplicably became famous.

Hope not. A performer like Garth Brooks could be a powerful ally in a situation like this. I hope he can get some people to change their minds.

Brooks is actually known to be a liberal. I don't know much about his stand on racial issues, but he's been on board with gay rights since the early 90s, when a ton of people who weren't immersed in country music had attitudes that probably embarrass them these days.

I bet that asshole, Chris Gaines, will be performing in his place.
