Awesome movie. Filmed on-board the Independence, and in my squadrons ready-room.

Interesting you mentioned President Bush, and his connection with the troops. Do you remember when he flew aboard the Lincoln to declare the war over? Well, he flew out in aircraft 700. I happened to be the avionics tech who was assigned to his jet pre-launch in Coronado. During the turn-up and before the hatch was

Not sure what all the hate is about. Judging from past posts you have made, I have no doubt you are indeed getting the car in question. It amazes me how rude some internet warriors get. I for 1 would LOVE to hear about what it’s like during the ordering process up to and including delivery. It would be so neat to see

I had the pleasure of serving with Senior Chief Byers back in 2002. A great man and great operator. Bravo Zulu!!!

Oddly, I don’t mind the head unit too much. It sure beats putting any kind of suction cup windshield/dash-mount etc that would clutter up the interior look. Subs/Amps add weight, but a car audio company did the project and I suppose that kinda comes with the territory. Amazing job blending old and new while keeping

This video has nothing to do with making them better pilots. Just a compilation of in-flight video a squadron guy/gal edited together.

Still strange seeing the Knight’s flying the Super Hornet. They were the Tomcat squadron alongside us Vikings in CAG-5.

Or you can always go TURBO...

You mention “Green” shirts being the hardest working members of the flight deck crew. While I agree somewhat with that statement (Green shirts by far make up the majority of workers on deck) in my opinion it’s the grapes and blue shirts. The overall majority of them are un-designated (un-rated, no “official” job)

Way to go CDR. Hanaki. I served with him in VS-21 and VS-41 when he was just a Ltjg and very new. I taught him a great deal about the avionics systems and how they worked etc. Cool to see that he elevated the ranks to CDR and was given his own squadron.

Nice to see the logic behind the choices. Looking forward to more!

Ah, yes the mileage. I didn’t see any mention of that in the write up. Can I get outta the grey? I have a feeling I will be following this year very close!!

Quick search on Ebay for a 2007 Vantage yields a few results in the 50K range. I would say 45.5K before a bumper-bumper warranty is a GREAT deal. Are you planning on keeping a record of how much repairs cost for this next year? I am interseted to see if the 5K cost of the warranty equals or exceeds any dealer required

No kidding. Flight Deck drills were always the pits.

I’ve rigged the barricade countless times during many deployments in the hope that if we ever had to do it for real, we would be ready. Thankfully it was never needed. I’ve seen 3 planes go down while out to sea, and ironically they were all right after take-off. Never any landing issues that I can remember in the 8+

Judging from Instagram, it looks like the right people found him. He’s doing a car for Floyd Mayweather and many pro athletes.

Yeah, it’s correct. I just don’t see the significance. They are most likely in an industrial park, not unlike many custom car places.

Saw this last night on 60 heading into Tempe. Gave me a chuckle.

That was a Google Street view from almost 5 years ago.

I know all these maps are public information and such, but my question is WHY? I mean, when I was deployed from 96-2004 ANY mention of ships movement in an email (circa 99ish because before that we had nothing but snail mail) or phone call from the ship was against protocol. I remember very vividly that all emails
