Number one thing I would suggest: moving is also the perfect time to purge. Old clothes, books, stuff that you told yourself and your friends that you were going to fix up or turn into an art project...sell, donate, or recycle. The less stuff you have, the less stuff you have to pack up and move.

Also, when boxed together, books weigh a lot more than they look.
