If you are just basing it on setting then maybe a tiny bit? But it still just looks like FFXV in terms of combat/gameplay. IX is the last great FF IMO and this doesn’t look like a return to form to me.

Yeah I have no qualms with bots that just notify people about items they are hunting. They help fight back against the bots that are making purchases for the scalpers.

There’s definitely implications for consoles, but they differ in that they are much more focused devices. Again, as I pointed out earlier and you seem to want to ignore, phones have largely come to replace PCs for many people. PCs are mostly wide open devices while mobile devices, especially iOS, are very walled in.…

I actually got mine, somewhat ironically, using a bot on Twitter.  Except the bot doesn’t buy.  It just tweets purchase links.

Sony handled it perfectly. Announce a date, then break it. Don’t give bots a chance. Yes, supply is limited - but at least mostly real people got one.

It was lame that Sony said they would start today and then everyone put their pre-orders live yesterday late afternoon and evening. I had a headache and was laying down for a nap and missed all the early pre-orders. Thankfully I was awake and on the hunt when Amazon put their up and snagged one there.

Yeah, sounds like it. I looked up some stuff on the emails and the pre-orders go live at 10am Pacific tomorrow. Given that’s less than a day away it seems likely all the emails have gone out.

except capitalism is NOT A ZERO SUM GAME. revenue that exists in one place doesn’t mean they took it from another. having attention or profit concentrated on one platform does not mean it can’t be grown elsewhere; and growing your platform doesn’t mean you need to take it from those who dominate either.

Hmm... guess I should check there.  Because how are we supposed to know if we don’t get selected?  I wouldn’t want to wait around hoping for an invite while other pre-orders come and go.

$70 for Demon’s Souls stings a bit.  Yeah, it looks great, but it’s still a game I played over a decade ago.

Yeah, I’m sure there are reasons, but game costs aren’t as flat as people sometimes make them out to be. They have gone up over time while also greatly reducing other costs. Carts were very expensive. Those costs are gone. You used to get manuals, maps, etc... with games. Those are all gone. With more and more…

Those games were expensive because the storage chips were expensive. In other words the carts themselves were expensive.  These aren’t apples to apples comparisons.

I never played that one because I wasn’t interested in delving into an MMO.  At least I wasn’t at the time it first launched.

What I miss are the real classes from the early games. Despite how much I loved games like FFVII and IX something was lost when magic just became some crap you could equip on a whim.

Same. Game Pass recently added FFVII, FFIX and FFXV. I played through VII and IX again a couple of weeks ago. In doing so I was reminded that I really don’t like how FF has turned into an action game. I blew through VII in one weekend, IX in a few days, and then tried to play XV. Made it a couple of hours into XV…

I think that’s just low lighting, but I agree. Looking at that pic above I think the PS5 would look great in dark grey or black. Looks slick with the blue accent lighting.
