At a minimum I would expect the diskless version to be $500 or lower. Having both models be higher would be a mistake.

It is disappointing indeed. I have a nice iPad that would work great. However for now I’m having to use it on my Android phone. It works great there too, but the screen is smaller than I would like. I don’t want to have to go out and buy an Android tablet when I already have an iPad. Dammit, Apple.
I have only tried a few games. As Prof mentioned Minecraft Dungeons has been given a nice custom touch screen overlay. Another game I fired up, Forza Horizon 4, gave me a message that a controller was required. I was able to launch it anyway, but nothing seemed to work. Probably just best to have a controller on…
Apple also has no way to determine which games can be allowed on xCloud. Sticking with Halo, what if that game had predatory or malicious practices and wanted access to user’s iPhone systems? Does Apple just shut down all of xCloud in response?
Looking at the dates it seems Monster Energy predates Monster Hunter by two years. Maybe they did try it with Monster a Hunter too?
No, I didn’t. I guess I should have watched the videos. I just saw the pictures showing him playing chess IRL and thought RL comps were being streamed.
Guess I should have watched the video. I saw the pictures and they were of someone playing chess IRL so I thought that was what was happening in the streams.
I agree it’s thin in the sense that games like Chess don’t lose much if they are electronic. Maybe, like poker, you lose some of the in-person intensity. But a grand champ IRL is still going to be a grand champ caliber player in an electronic form of the game. However, esports has to always mean “electronic” or it…
What is with you guys? You just said exactly what I said. Please read my posts again.
Nowhere did I say that. I said people playing football is a sport and people playing a football game is an eSport. I was pointing out the difference between an eSport and a sport.
Yeah, I still almost hit the cap last month. When I got the email I saw that the cap had been increased. Anyway, I downloaded a few Game Pass games last month and that combined with the usually streaming pushed me right up to the cap. It sucks.
That’s usually the part that is debated, but here they are referring to chess as an eSport. Putting aside what is or is not a “sport” the “e” portion isn’t really debatable. The “e” means the competition is taking place electronically.
I don’t think anyone mentioned this and maybe I’m wrong here, but I think the XSX and XSS will allow you to storage games on an external drive. At least that’s how the description sounds on the official website. And what I mean by that is while next gen optimized games won’t run off them I think you can move them…
I don’t know if it’s a “vast majority”, but caps are pretty common. I’m with Cox and they have caps. I know ATT and Comcast both have caps. Some have, or were, suspended during the lockdowns, but they will/have returned. I just got a data usage warning last week (yay!).
It’s pretty clearly not an esport. The ‘e’ stands for electronic. Maybe if you play in a video game format it might be, but plain old chess is not an esport. Or, if you want to say it is, then so is every sport, game, or pastime on earth. But I don’t think the fact something can be streamed or broadcast makes it…
I don’t know how all the licensing works, but I think the current players are licensed as a group. I don’t know why some of retired players can be used without payment?
A million dollars? Each? Doesn’t seem like it would be profitable to do that.
70% of the revenue is quite substantial. And being so closed means leaving to go to another platform means you have to leave everything you’ve invested behind.
The last showcase was also billed as a games showcase and then they revealed two systems. Your premise seems faulty.
