And hell, I know about seating arrangements sucking. My boyfriend is 6'5" and massive. I have asked many times for specific seating because of his size; hosts have always accommodated us because I informed them of my preferences before being seated.
If you just expect the host to know what kind of seating you require, then yes you're a pain.

I think the problem here lies with your disconnect between your perceived restaurant experience and the experience of the restaurant employees you're dealing with.
