Once, I was filling gas during a cross-state trip and at the pump opposite me was a man attending to his pristine, red P1800 wagon. I wanted to chat him up about it but got nervous and decided not to. Senpai never noticed me.

I regret it to this day.

I was a young guy, maybe 19 or 20, when I bought my 2nd car. My first, bought when I was 17, was an ‘87 Buick LeSabre. Since I wanted something cooler for my 2nd car, I bought a friend’s 88 Acura Integra. It had 250k on it and it was in pretty poor shape but serviceable mechanically. Problem was, it was a stick shift

You should have checked your timing Marx. If that wouldn’t have fixed it, maybe it was just Gorbachev.

For that, I’d just get the 50/50 premixed stuff. You should be fine year round on that. In North Dakota where I live, you have to mix 55/45 or 60/40 because we do occasionally get to -30 to -40°F, so that’s a different animal. And yes, before I got meticulous about it, I’ve had old coolant freeze up in my engine a

I appreciate that we have car dealers looking out for our interests.

Yes, ethylene glycol is corrosive, particularly to aluminum (i.e. your block or head in most cases). I would imagine a higher concentration magnifies the effect.

Yes. The higher the concentration of coolant, the better the boil over protection but inversely worse freezing protection. It’s the opposite case if you put in more water than coolant. Typically, the best ratio for most climates is 50/50 or 60/40 (coolant to water).

Good on you for doing this cooling system PSA, David. I would argue that an engine’s cooling system is actually THE most vital aspect of your vehicle’s maintenance. Remember those old PSAs that said “When you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.” Well, when your engine can’t cool itself, nothing else matters. It won’t

It’s easy to make absurd amounts of money when all the cars you sell have zero miles on the odometer.

Dog people are a form of life on the same level as their “companions.” Congratulations, it must be crowded down thereat the bottom of the totem pole.

And I will cap that off with a big, hearty “fuck you” to all the folks whose affirmed that the primary pastime of dog people is foaming at their mouth alongside their

Feeling’s mutual.

A fair and reasonable response. One star for your efforts.

Likewise.

Thank for proving to me that there are sane, reasonable dog people. Seems half the time they’re rabid and ready to bite your head off, like their beloved pets. My experience is that most of them are just defensive because they’re tired of friends and family asking when they’re going to push out a kid.

Hard to do any of those things if you got in a crash and killed your dog. That’s kind of the crux of the matter.

Leave your dog at home. Problem solved.

Unless you’re taking them to the V-E-T or will be gone for an extended period of time and have no one to check on them. Those are the only excuses. Anything else is because you “want” and that is what puts them at needless risk.

For all intents and purposes, the Aisin AW4 is a Toyota transmission. Toyota has a controlling stake in Aisin, who supplies drivetrains for a lot of Big T vehicles. That’s where the correlation comes from.

Ooh, nice. Of course, that seller definitely knows what he has, no tire kickers, no lowballers. Makes me wish I was still in WI.

I never understood why Jeep had to ruin the ZJ with those crummy 42REs. The 4.0 deserved to be mated to the AW4 for life.

Hahahah, it’s like looking into my own mind. I think they made those for what, like 6 months?

Fight ya for it. ;)
