I know that some people from other minority groups feel that way about Asians but I wonder if Asians don’t usually bother with protesting because when faced with discrimination, they turned away, grouped together and created parallel societies just as early Italian and Jewish immigrants did. Many Asians look to Asian

I get that this could happen but after not casting an Asian actor, it seems they should have made an extra effort to just not do anything that reminded people of that controversy.

I don’t know about everyone else but I’m so damned cynical because whitewashing of roles has been going on since practically the beginning of cinema. Whites have been playing roles meant for Natives from all over the world, plus Asians and blacks and it has been complained about as far back as the 60s,  so a middle

Actually I do have a problem with the casting of Ejiofor and for much the same reasons.

I tried that and doing it with my speakers, it works to block out street noise  but if the neighbors are really clog wearing level noisy, you need something “industrial strength” .

That’s such a nice thing to do for your old coworkers.

I was ticked off at the producers, they’re the ones who said they wouldn’t hire a Tibetan actor. I understood their reasoning but then tell the story in a different way rather than cast a white actor. If you’re afraid of encouraging stereotypes(their other explanation besides not wanting to anger China) then don’t

I know what you mean. And they also seem to be older than I recall kids were when doing stuff like that. Before this weirdness started neither my husband nor I had been in a snowball fight since we were 10 or 11.

From those emails, I didn’t get the impression that Swinton wanted to befriend Cho, just pacify her and move on. That’s why it seemed like a self-serving endeavor to me.

Congratulations on both good things that are happening for you. :-)

Your friend is crazy, all cake is good :-)

What is it with kids now starting snowball fights with adults? We never did that when I was a kid. This has been a thing in my neighborhood for a couple of years, it must be something they see happening on one of their shows.

Download some white noise* and play it as loud as you can. It really makes other people’s racket tolerable. In fact, you’ll probably fall asleep and never know when they finally turned in.

Blue pen is right, don’t underestimate the power of guilt. I’m also an only child and not the least bit ashamed that I cried -hard- to get my mom to go for a real check up including blood work, stress test, and a mammogram.

That makes sense. Thanks for that information.

Lol

Wonder how that feud got started.

Perhaps, but then why contact Cho at all?

Maybe, but you wouldn’t believe the stuff my phone doesn’t autocorrect or even autocorrects to a mistake. All that would happen if I typed unpresidented is that my phone wouldn’t offer spelling suggestions as it usually does for everything else I type.

It happens. :-(
