Before anyone compares this to denying services based on race, gender, or sexuality, liar-rotting-America-from-the-inside-for-personal-gain isn’t a protected class. Businesses can’t discriminate against people for, say, their race. But unless certain theories about a cabal of space lizards secretly running the world…

It could be argued that each season of Eastbound is one long movie (but unlike those awful Netflix series, they knew how to write a proper episode of TV so you are satisfied with what the episode was). 

Those initials should be H.B. for Huge Balls Dowd, since he’s throwing that around like Eastbound and Down’s sucking is an accepted fact.

Don Coscarelli. Phantasm is a horror classic and a movie I love. With the possible exception of Bubba Ho-Tep everything since has been severely flawed, if sometimes entertaining. But I still like that his films feel defiantly individual.

Another obvious entry would be Malick, even though I admit to being enthralled with parts of Tree of Life.

If that was the reasoning that is certainly understandable, but he still didn’t have to slam Eastbound and Down like it’s worthless garbage.

I’d put the hit rate higher than that. Hell, AV Club gave it glowing reviews. Of the 29 episodes, 23 got B+ or higher.  The majority of those, 15, were A- or higher. This was by this sites own metrics a classic, great show. 

I could see someone saying life is too short for 121 hours of Lost. But you can shotgun 14.5 hours of Eastbound and a Down in a lonely weekend and at least 8.75 of them are great.

Each season of that show had something great. Stevie trying to shoot himself but instead blowing off his cosmetic surgery-enhanced chin is one of the funnies things I’ve ever seen.

We’re too snobby for monocles and top hats. It’s cravats, waistcoats, Hessian boots (only during the day!) and pantaloons or it’s not worth our time.

Life is too short for four seasons of Eastbound & Down.
