It is eye watering how expensive these things have become.

Under no circumstances is she allowed to sell it :) you are 1,000% right they are like a lawnmower in the sense that if you let them sit, the carbs get gummed up and weird stuff happens to make them temperamental.  If you drive it at least a few times a week and let the oil warm up and rev it once warm, it will

‘Slow car fast’ is more fun anyway. Being able to wring out 1st/2nd and part of 3rd and not be license-losing speed has its advantages. Having been lucky enough to own a 3.2 and drive many 80s 911s, they are great cars, but not anywhere near worth what they are commanding today from my point of view. They smell great,

The interior is the let down in the 996. Get it only in black and very much not in supple leather to minimize the bad.

Hell yes.  Great color too--superb find

Old Porsches love to be driven too, and only start acting shitty when you stick them in the garage for too long

I have been supremely lucky timing wise with most of my cars. 356, 911 3.2, 993, 968, e34M5...too bad I couldn’t keep them all as my net worth would be in a much better place.

It was a lease from my company at the time for beating a huge number—I had it for almost 2 years and only had to pay insurance on it, which was pretty amazing.

Pictures please

This is an awesome idea for a YouTube series. Take the biggest/weirdest buckets you can find and bring them to Carmax for offers

Normally I’d agree with you, but having owned a 996C2 manual and having driven a friend’s 996 C4S, the driving experience is not different from RWD, and looks way better because of the fat rear end and taillight / wheel treatment.

THIS is exactly the kind of classic you want. Reminds me of my old Frankencar, a 1962 356B T-6 Coupe. Had the engine from a 64, was painted decently a light yellow color but it was originally blue which you could see when it chipped anywhere and some areas of the interior, but it ran like an absolute top and needed

Holy shit Derricke Cope is still running? I remember seeing him in person years ago in the pits and he was wearing a racing suit that had a Winston Cup patch on it. I think Friendly’s was the sponsor on the suit and it looked as old as a Winston Cup racing suit would. I don’t know who his sponsor was on the car but it

Underrated comment by the perfect handle

Kinja ate them, and the webmasters forgot to tag the post to NPOCP for dessert

If you want your 911 cooled with air and not water, be ready to spend dearly, especially for 964s or 993s.  For reasonable money I’d be thinking hard about a 996 C4S with a black interior

Good find. I’m surprised he’s only flipping it for a grand. But for sure if it only went for $7K on carsandbids, it ain’t worth much more 2 weeks later.

I thought the same thing.  I have been an amateur photographer for a while, but these are real bad.  And lots of “10-12 footers” with lens flare and weird shadows etc.  I feel like they are meant to paint the car in a much better light than reality.

Is it all aero now that keeps them below [temporary] aircraft speeds?

But this car is not that clean, not original and definitely not low mileage.
