Unless you are some squirrelly Sterling ‘collector’ I just don’t get this. If it had a stick it would be more interesting but equally batshit priced. I also think the Legend looks better and would be more reliable and easier to keep on the road at any indy shop or NAPA or whatever.

Counterpoint: the new Tacoma is far from pretty, like the rest of Toyota’s lineup

We actually had to vote this year [well, 2020 although 2021 feels like 2020 THE REDUX] in Massachusetts on a state law that would require automakers to make their OBD data available to anyone and allow any shop to work on the car. Thankfully, it passed and the data will be open.

This is a car that is an example of BMW cementing itself into the clown show that it is today as a brand. Nothing says “We’ve completely lost the plot” than putting an ugly body and pointless small hatch on a sedan based on the 7er, call it a 5er “GT” and charge more for it.

Probably because the dealers want to keep the general public as clueless about what’s going on with their cars to punt them to the dealer to plonk down $325 for an air filter and oil change and “inspection service”.

Agree on the NP—the full maintenance records I’m assuming include a replacement wiring harness, which seems to be the one main issue with these that will cost you dearly.

I meant the 2008 coming over, but realize how that could be misconstrued given my shitty sentence structure. I definitely wish that we could get the Oroch over, but even the 2008 being here [milquetoast-ey CUV that it is] would be exciting

Oroch would be amazing.  The 2008 absolutely would sell gangbusters here so here’s to hoping Stellantis brings it

Being in the sales industry for most of my career, I can unfortunately say that there are MANY people who continue to fail upwards, usually in a similar manner of Trump, being born into money or being at the right place at the right time.

The same cannot be said for ingesting copious amounts of amphetamines and/or like substances

But they can manipulate their currency.  This is to take nothing away from your points, which are all solid

They remember, only they tend to remember the idealistic parts where they could work a normal job and buy a house in their 20s and raise a family with only one spouse working on a normal livable wage and pretend that everyone these days just don’t have the ‘grit’ and ‘determination’ to do what they did in a completely

Same, from Massachusetts. I grew up in Atlanta, which gets way colder than most people realize in winter, only it’s high 30s/40s and raining. Shittiest combination you can get.

And a Cortina is way better looking to boot...

This car reminds me of many ‘ho hum’ everyday European cars that never made it over here, which by number are many yet by proxy make them “rare” in the US.

My 2019 Alltrack weighs ~500lb more than this according to the Googles and has a 168hp motor, which is really understressed from the factory. It’s fun to drive, but not by any means “fast”. It’s ‘slow car fast’ type of driving which is ideal for me in any case. I’d imagine the driving experience of this Sonic is

I had no idea the Regal had a stick!

220 sounds pretty good.  Knowing how much HP can come out of a small turbo motor, I just don’t get the 138hp number.

That one also just had a shitload of expensive work done--new clutch, slave cylinder, driveshaft guibo, etc.  Looks like it’s lowered which would not be my preference but I’d go for that one as well over the one listed

It’s a neat little car, doesn’t look that bad but 138hp out of a turboed motor in 2016 sounds pretty abysmal. I’ve no clue what the market is on something like this but $12K can buy you tons of options, and this would not be one for me.
