You’ll notice conservatives always intentionally misinterpret stuff like that because they know their base doesn't know any better. Like when they talk about the First Amendment
Tax all income as income. If you made $1K selling peanuts or peanut futures or peanut company stock, you made $1K.
Yes, he’s intentionally misleading his base, a basic GOP strategy. They have their ignorant fool voters thinking that everything the Dems say is a lie. Many of them will even believe stories about child sex rings in pizzerias.
Sort of the same way Trump says that better trade deals with Mexico are somehow going to create money for the US Treasury and “pay for the wall” when in fact trade policies impact the income of private companies, not the US government. Or when he says the US Treasury is collecting billions of dollars from China…
That marginalized tax rate point is the core one to me. Don’t get me wrong, I assume Scalise knows exactly how the tax rate actually works, but is intentionally misleading the discussion because he knows that a lot of people don’t.
Fdr set the rate even higher than what she wants to put it at so it’s hardly an impossible ask.
I love that she has the guts to clap back at these blowhards but is doing it in a way that is not calling them liars, sexists or alarmists, but by basically calling them idiots and making them prove their knowledge. I don’t think a lot of our politicians really know their stuff when it comes to constitutional law, tax…
What’s extra stupid is that they mention the “recourse” they have (boycott), and then ask what recourse they have, as if there is a way for them to force someone else’s business to change their policy.
It is a bar. There is no reason to have a child in a bar at all, and it’s a gift that this place only limit it at dinner hour or later. Bar patrons (who outnumber Sam) have the right to expect their bar to act like a bar. And I assure you, using the “greater good” method of calculation, society appreciates the rule.…
Or people like me would stop going there and tell people “It used to be fun, but then it got full of noisy bothersome children”.
Eh, there are other places one can go to.
I think the analogy goes even deeper. It’s more like cops were set at every stop sign, traffic light, intersection, etc., looking for any possible infraction of President Clinton’s to document then weaponize against him.
This was my exact thought also. A new policy created just after this guy had a baby screams “holy crap we found a way to get rid of this douche”.
I’m the proud new parent of a bouncing baby boy. I’m also a longtime fan of a craft beer gastropub in my neighborhood.
Bonus- the dogs will lick your baby clean while you wait
I am seriously wondering if the new policy is due to Sam, especially given his entitled “I PUT THIS PLACE ON THE MAP” attitude.
Well, well... mummy and dada want their favorite beers at the gastropub and they want to bring their squirming sack of germs and bodily fluids with them. By God, this is AMERICA and they have every right to drive home drunk with that infant after tormenting good citizens of the big city who, inexplicably, don’t love…
I’m in the group of people who think babies never belong in a bar. I wonder if the new policy at this pub is due to Sam.
Dear Sam,
