The fracturing of the right has been really beneficial in Alberta. Our major provincial parties are now basically the moderate left, the moderate right, and the far right. The far right are basically foaming-at-the-mouth levels of insane, so it helps to give the real nutters a place to hang out where they can’t

I do actually find it kind of a relief in a way that I probably won’t live to be truly old. I only had one grandparent make it out of their sixties, and I’m basically a cancer time bomb. But on the upside, I will probably never get old enough for alzheimer’s of dementia, or need diaper changes. :) It’s not so bad.

Hey now, the difference between 8 and 8.5 and 9 is HUUUUUGE when you’re that age!

This. Every time I’ve gotten in trouble with drinking too much it’s been because I haven’t been counting. If I deliberately keep track I am much less likely to overindulge.

As a woman with a history of wearing cargo pants (where I live it’s too cold for shorts about 90% of the time), I’m not sure I understand what’s wrong with them? They have so many very useful pockets!

The hundreds of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada are an example of this. Just now we are finally getting a government inquiry into why so many have died, after years of having newspapers, police and politicians stay silent.

Dude, I feel you. I don’t think I’ve ever dated a man who was truly “straight”. One is out and proud gay, and at least a few more are bisexual. I’m female, but sway toward being more gender-neutral, and think I tend to partner up with guys who are similarly outside the traditional dichotomy.

OMG you are me. My high school BF was also gay, and when he eventually came out it was completely priceless:

I don’t get it either. Someone else being gay has nothing to do with their ex-partners, or anyone else they might have dated. People just like to make things about themselves.

LOL I wish! Monday was a holiday here in Alberta, so I came into work on Tuesday convinced that it was August 1.

The problem I always have with McCall and most other similar pattern companies is that their stuff so rarely fits the size it says it will (I find McCall’s to run big) and I’m not good enough at sewing to size down a pattern.

And on that note, Happy International Childfree Day to all the non-parents. :)

Yeah I know, I was being facetious. :) The “good old days” are something that only exists in the minds of conservatives of a certain age. The rest of us can recognize how truly shitty those days actually were.

I personally like to put on a big list of nothing but Dragonforce when I treadmill. It makes me feel like I can run forever.

And the music was too. I will give you points for both of these things.

I had to haul my sorry ass back onto the wagon after I got back from camping with my family last week. The four of us who were drinking filled three recycling bags with empties over the course of a week by having beer for breakfast and mai-tais for lunch.

Not to mention back-alley abortions, duck-and-cover nuclear bomb drills, the Vietnam War, race riots, polio...

I might be late to the party, but you NEED to check out AtticRaiders! They make steampunk style accessories, including super cool and functional goggles and glasses. The owner Melissa is a friend of my sister, and she even looks like Dr. Holtzman! https://www.etsy.com/shop/atticraid…

I’m working on losing the 15lbs I’ve put on in the last year, and beer is the cause of most of the weight gain. I haven’t had a drink in a week, and while I felt like I wanted to murder everyone for the first few days, it’s not so bad right now.

The coworkers and I were reminiscing the other day about “Wheat Crunch”, which was a popular snack when we were little. We came to the conclusion that it must have been an extremely local product, because no one who was born outside of Alberta had ever heard of it before.
