Not an author myself, but I know enough math to put more trust on 4.3 stars out of 573 reviews than 5 stars out of 8 reviews.

I’m not a published author, but I can very easily imagine if I were that I would be monitoring the reactions on several book review platforms. And if I had accumulated a couple dozen or so 5 star reviews and nothing else, I’m sure the drop to 4.9 would feel much more devastating than it should. And that’s where my

“I did not mean to be aggressive”

If I’m going to go blind, I might as well remember vividly the things I used to look at

I don’t understand any of this. It sounds like ridiculously over-blown drama, from the author, the reviewer, the publisher, and the random people jumping in to “support” one side or the other. Is everyone stuck in a grade school mentality? The author and the publisher should be able to comport themselves like the

If you have to tell people you’re a comedian, you aren’t.

what is it with people always saying “it’s a joke!!” being so painfully unfunny?

What if you have a great, active sex life...just no partners?

George got smart. It was Elaine that got stupid:

Panera has their Charged Lemonade, which is obviously caffeinated and advertised as such. However, I wasn’t aware of the amount until after I had had several of them (not all in the same day). A large has nearly 400 mg of caffeine, which as noted in the article is the suggest daily max. Our local Panera used to have

At least they can’t remember all the sex they aren’t having!

Surviving for health factors is a big deal, because usually all these things that are “associated” with brain health are also just associated with general physical health, which is known to have a strong correlation with brain health. I do wonder if it’s just that they are both associated with some 3rd, unknown thing

You genuinely sound fucking dumb.

It’s the whole reason that they’ve become a meme on the internet lmfao”

What a damning self-report. I’m impressed

Don’t look at the scores of movie critics. Read the review. If you know *why* a particular review liked or didn’t like a movie, you can usually figure out whether or not you would, no matter whether or not you agree.

Racist bigots gonna bigot; they are sad sacks of shit.

The only one I’ve seen was The Jungle Book and it was surprisingly not bad. There’s also a bonkers musical number with Christopher Walken as a giant orangutan.

The Republicans are losing their minds over anything and everything Disney-related these days because Disney has officially been deemed by them as being “too woke” now and “grooming” children (whatever that means). This movie checks all the Republican-rage checkmarks, especially since Ariel is played by a black person.

This is why user ratings are trash. Say what you will about the validity of putting critics’ reviews on a pedestal, but I can at least trust that rotten tomatoes is reporting opinions from people with a modicum of media literacy who have actually experienced the film and not just the brigading of troll or stan

There is a wealth of African (and Asian, and Middle Eastern, and South American, and even Eastern European) folklore that Disney could plunder to make new movies to appeal to a wider audience.  There’s no need to re-make any of their previous tales.
