Here’s a little science:

To keep the house cool when I get home. If I just came in from 100 degree weather, that last think I want to do wait for an AC to cool things down. I want it cold now. In addition, the AC has to work harder and uses more energy if I don’t leave it running.

I live in Miami So its hot all the time. but everyone has central air So i dont know if this works the same with window shakers. but FPL even tell you that when your not home keep your house about 78 to 80 and lower when you get home over turning it off. Because you use more power when the air on for like 1 or 2 hour…

Some folks don’t like to feel like they are diving face first into Satan’s gooch when they step into their homes during a heatwave. I personally don’t leave my AC on because I’m very conscious about energy consumption and conservation, but I do understand the reasoning for people that may live in hotter climates.

Yeah that sentence threw me for a loop. We run our AC from 10pm to 2am here in Bermuda. 

This is not an energy efficient solution. Turning off your AC while you are not at home means you are going to use far more electricity trying to cool down the oven you created when you arrive home.
