Isn’t Starbase 1 in Earth orbit? I thought the huge space station in “Search for Spock” in orbit of Earth is Starbase 1.

Plus, they’re probably going to infuriatingly retcon the cheap look of the Enterprise and other TOS ships and starbases by saying that this war wiped out all of Starfleet’s infrastructure and they had to rebuild quickly and cheaply, thus lots of blindly lights and cardboard sets.

So presumably this story might lead to a new, unified Klingon High Council?

I think my hope would be for Stamets to make the decision himself and destroy the tech, along with his notes. Like Doc Brown ordering Marty to destroy the Delorean.

I agree with both you and Zack 100% on that one.

Ironically, this was probably the most thoughtful episode to date. I thought it was a real treat.

Here are my thoughts on the spore drive:

...and also develop virulently xenophobic terrorist organizations and aspiring dictators! Let’s not forget that!

I think the uniforms look like a reasonable evolution of the Enterprise jumpsuits, even if they don’t look like a precursor to the TOS sweatshirts.

I hadn’t noticed this in previous episodes, but noticed it tonight.

The A.V. Club

In their defense, they do know they were away for nine months. That would be time enough to find Geogiou in a prison ship or whatever.

So Sarek just forces mind melds on people now. I still find this weird as hell.

Personally, I think that some fans have a weird fixation on “pushing forward in years.”

I thought this one was great. It took the time to have multiple quiet scenes with characters talking to each other that I feel have been sorely lacking from the series so far.

I respect that...I just don’t really understand it. But I don’t need to! These past few years, I’ve been trying really hard to just let people like things, because it’s none of my fucking business!

I love defending unpopular things - I’ll fight to the death over Spider-Man 3 - but the prequels? I don’t even know how I’d go about that.

They just needed to execute virtually every aspect of the production in a way that wasn’t an utter failure.

I dunno, I feel like being slashed in the face with a stick would affect my situational awareness.
