What the HECK. I’ve never heard any of this before and it’s all fantastic. The first selections you referenced reminded me alternately of Golden Axe, Strider, Panzer Dragon II Zwei, and even a little Secret of Mana. Growing up SegaAF, I’ve only recently become a fan of Fujita’s excellent work by way of Streets of Rage

Well, geez, I guess I need to get on the ball here!

Great jams! I forget how good this OST is.

Now playing

No kidding....I listened to the Takenobu Mitsuyoshi track that Mike Fahey closed out the article with, then proceeded to play this in the car to my wife and kids on the school commute:

Oooooo, now you’ve turned me on to Black Moth Super Rainbow. These folks are really good!

Loved the article and the music! I was in my severe disillusion phase with the Saturn by the time Burning Rangers rolled out....although that didn’t stop me from buying Panzer Dragoon Saga and importing Grandia. Looking at BR at the time, I couldn’t shake the feeling that despite Naka’s prowess, the game was held

Cold fried chicken? That sounds at once terrifying and delightful.

BOGUS! Good to see you ‘round these parts! I’ve started writing a few of the Morning Music articles (Wednesday was mine). I definitely agree that SOJ knew what they were doing around this time with respect to game development. If only they’d been similarly competent in console design and marketing strategies.

Hope your vaccinations both go smoothly. My wife just had her second last week and it put her out of commission for a day and a half.

Glad to help, and thanks for the heads up on the Spotify info! I missed that, likely because of that subscription thing I keep complaining about. ;)

I’ve spent waay too much time going back and forth between the Vinyl of Plok! and the direct digital files to see which I prefer.

Definitely worth a listen. The sfx are good as well, with all their slippery gut slicing and whatnot. The music really amps up the tension, especially if you’re as bad at puzzle games as I am.

Oof, that sounds awful! Stay safe!

Interesting. It appears I need to check this out!

Well, you can always do like I did and develop a relationship with the music on its own terms!

This is super cool! I’m only marginally familiar with Comiket, because I wrote a short article for a Doujin magazine centered on Sega’s 60th anniversary, and the deadline was based around being able to display at Comiket. But I’ve never heard of MusicVket. This is right up my alley!

That’d be super interesting. I don’t know anything about Touhou Project, except that there’s a spinoff game called Touhou Luna Nights, created by Team Ladybug, who’s also responsible for the fantastic Pharaoh Rebirth.

On the contrary! It’s so very good.

Uh, that “Art of Destruction” is.....well, it’s destructive.
