Good point. My female friendships are uncomplicated, my male friendships are uncomplicated-because I choose to have uncomplicated friendships. It’s not all attributable to gender.

LOL... I know, I heard that and thought, “uh... The Hip might have something to say about this. Or their fans would, at least.”

Yep. When we have one thing that can really hurt them, they cry foul and claim it’s the “one thing you can’t do.”

In my years of playing co-ed sports I finally got tired of having to scurry out of the way of the charging boys during plays. I decided I was going to stand my ground during the next incidence of this type of play, and I did - and one of the bros impaled his crotch on my knee (I hadn’t moved, I just stood there), and

Fucking nailed it.

Late reply, but yep, I think you’ve got something. We have a climate that encourages experimentation, I think, and that doesn’t shut people down too much for being different. And say what you will about Can Con in its heyday (there was some true and total garbage on the air because of it) but it allowed people who

Yayyy! I realized that I hold stronger opinions about these things than I probably should (and my desert island discs are heavily seeded with Can Con)

You’re right, they also wrote about heavy topics quite well. That unfortunate (stupid) moniker combined with the monkey song didn’t help them get much traction as anything but a purely novelty act. I’m sure they’ve had success but it seems like a significant ‘what might have been’.

Yeah, but Maybe You Should Drive was Good. Really good. So was Gordon. and I love their rendition of “Lovers in a Dangerous Time.” One of the big problems with BNL was that they were pushed as a novelty act, and their best music counteracts a really bouncy sound, and some comedy, with dark, dark stuff.

About a week ago I jumped hard when I realized I was at the intersection of Jane and St. Clair (the inspiration for the song ‘Jane’)....I heard that story in an interview probably 20 years ago, but I’d never been there until just now.

Page (and maybe the others) clearly had issues when they were working on Pirate Ship (my least favorite of the BNL albums). There are some gems in the other albums, but I’m mostly meh about them now. (Still, the live version of “Brian Wilson” will always be among one of my faves.)

I don’t remote believe the Beyoncé gossip, mostly because I don’t believe Beyoncé ever stoops to full on fighting with her enemies. I would believe that Kim called Beyoncé and Beyoncé said nice-sounding things to her, and then Kim got off the phone and realized every last word Bey said to her was absolute shade.

Yes the fact that’s it’s treated as sacred is just bullshit and it really bugs me that I was raised to believe that, no matter what a boy does to you, kicking him in the nuts is one thing you can never ever do in retaliation. Fuck that! That’s what they told us to keep us down! The precious family jewels jesus

Like you, I don’t get what they can’t see in her. Racism is a hell of a drug.

They can’t fetishize her properly because she has actual power.

Michelle Obama has been one of the classiest, the most educated (two ivy league degrees), perhaps the smartest, and yes one of the most beautiful first ladies we have ever had. We will be lucky to get another one like her. People who hate on her are ignorant racists. She is so many things that all of us strive to

She’s treated a lot like how Serena Williams is treated. Williams has been called a man by so many people and so has Michelle. I’m wondering if it is because both women are black, strong and athletic. That racist can’t stand their mix of strength and power so they deny their womanhood.

The constant flood of Michelle Obama comments over the last 8 years really do flummox me.
