Honestly, god help anyone who says ANYTHING about her if we’re referring to that Jo Koy joke as “cringe-worthy.” It was not a good joke. It was barely a joke. But my goodness, is it being blown so absurdly out of proportion. “Taylor Swift is dating an NFL star and gets shown on TV a bunch.” Oh, what a diss to Tay-Tay.

Places like this essentially equate ‘funny’ to things I agree with. They’re staffed by people who go to watch comics that get ‘laughs’ of acknowledgement rather than genuine laughs of mirth.

Kind of funny that this article was placed adjacent to the Dave Chappelle article on the main page. Spent 5 minutes reading about how Chappelle has become a repetitive transphobic hack (which, ok, fair enough), then slid over here to read about how Katt Williams is a “national treasure” for giving an interview in

Who is this wish.com Trump looking motherfucker

It can be. The problem is none of them work at the AV Club anymore.

Extra points for Google translating it into Hebrew!

Yep...

I mean:
It was not my intention to hurt or demean...”

O and what exactly was his intention then, when he rants against jews for months and plans to go death con 3 [sic] on JEWISH PEOPLE.”.

Oh it wasn’t my intention to hurt someone...I just want them be killed, nothing else...*shrug* oopsie, my fault, but I for

Miami Vice at #2, but Last of the Mohicans all the way down at #10? Yeah, no.

That’s fair. The timeline on when exactly kids stopped being interested in/trusting clowns can be fudged a fair bit. But it’s much more to your follow-up point that Pennywise as represented in the Mushyshitty adaptation is a fucking terror from the fucking jump. That adaptation obviously gets me worked up, as you can

The snark of the AV Club’s glory days was always (or almost always) aimed at targets who earned it. Someone making a really good movie and being cool about it wouldn’t have gotten Sean O’Neal’s ire, because O’Neal wasn’t a fucking hack.

Am I just old (I’m 44) now? Because I don’t get the needlessly sarcastic tone I see injected into nearly everything I read on AVClub anymore.

This is just sad in so many ways. No comedy here, just tragedy.

It’s just wild to me that there wasn’t a firm plan in place for this trilogy before setting out. Like the whole Marvel Endgame arc was clearly pretty well planned out and through some highs and lows they ended up with a fairly cohesive and very entertaining long term story but for some reason there wasn’t enough

If Joe Rogan’s gonna be dethroned, it’s not going to be Garland doing it.

He’s just a genre guy who makes stuff that isn’t total trash. He’s not trying to be Kubrick or something. He’s not a high-on-his-own-farts guy like Nolan. He’s more like a John Carpenter.

Most of them seem like soulless cash-ins

Is it too mean to post the Norm quote? Fuck it, I’m posting the Norm quote:

The biggest star who ever appeared in these movies was killed in the franchise’s very first scene.  I’m not convinced people go to these movies because of the cast.

This seems like an example of everyone being reasonable, and just not being able to come to an agreement. Ortega’s a rising big star, and she’s right to request a high salary, particularly if doing another Scream movie would mean turning down work where she would receive this kind of pay.

I use the term “exhausted majority” - the ones who didn’t show up to actually vote in 2016 because they assumed Sec. Clinton would win, and then turned out in HUGE numbers in 2020 because they were so sick of this shit. Biden’s win was huge, it wasn’t even close.
