Torque was freaking awesome, and it was legitimately well-made on a technical level. I really wish that director would do more films in a similar vein (or, like, at all).

It was fantastic, and quite well-received back then.

For some reason, although Blazing Saddles is indeed one of the greatest comedies ever made, in my mind I tend not to think of it as a Western spoof. It's just a…comedy with Western trappings?

Fun fact: I once went to a Christmas party thrown by this film's editor, Harry Miller, and his wife (who was my co-worker at the time). This was probably in '93. On the wall he had framed stills from each of the films he had edited, which is how I found out about Jack's Back.

No love for the 1953 Titanic starring Barbara Stanwyck?

Kerouac wrote that in the margins about 2/3 of the way down in On the Road, man.

Can't believe they had Hanks deflate the ball offscreen. Think about the unrealized potential of that air!

Not joking, that is actually the erection's role in the film. Paul Dano's character uses it as a compass (somehow).

Hmm, I guess that would've been Tarzan's motivation.

Finally, those adorable killer aliens from Galaxy Quest get their own movie!

I was only familiar with "She Sells Sanctuary" when Sonic Temple first came out and became a smash. I didn't know anything about the band, but my sister mocked them by saying, "They're a real-life Spinal Tap!" (because of how the band changed its image in a superficial play for popularity).

I actually really admired that scene in The Crazies where Timothy Olyphant's sheriff character asks the mayor for permission to turn off the town's water supply because it may be contaminated. The mayor says no (because he's an asshole movie mayor), so what does the sheriff do? He goes straight to the water supply

I don't know…when you get right down to it, isn't all clothing merely "strategic butt covering"?

Then you would not be bothered by this film, because not only is it not "bigger" than a normal episode, it actually seems "smaller" than most individual episodes from the entire series. After seeing it in the theater, I remembered thinking that I wouldn't have even liked it very much as a single MotW episode.

Thanks! Either this is a recent addition, or canistream.it are a pack of filthy liars…they only listed it for purchase the last time I checked.

He was Karl? Fair point then, it has been a while since I've seen this. Thanks, my annoyance is fully restored!

Well I'd love to see this, and have been wanting to for ages, but as noted in the article it's not available for streaming (even as a paid rental) from ANY service in the US.

That always bugged me too, like "Why is the German guy suddenly acting like the (non-German-speaking) audience surrogate?" But recently it occurred to me that Rickman was speaking to Alexander Godunov, so the character was presumably a Russian speaker, not German.

I just don't see a valid reason for them to obfuscate their catalog like that. Especially since "a list of everything" is one of the more proven UI elements in human culture…

Netflix, please for the love of all that is holy, do this!
