Right now the only mention of Kane on ESPN’s homepage or NHL section is Rovell’s report that EA has already removed Kane from the cover of NHL 16.

Interesting. But could the problem of the AI’s short-sightedness could be somewhat ameliorated via the introduction of new goals - or new environmental constraints - over the course of the simulation? Finding the local maximum given a static environment and a singular goal is one thing. But finding the local maximum…
Given that locomotion is the only ‘goal’ here, if these experiments were left to run for an infinite amount of time would we see them all end up evolving into an identical model? Is there a theoretical ideal that can be attained when the parameters are this simple?
Idle speculation time, because the whole “it’s all psychosomatic” idea seems as unrealistically simplistic as the, “Doctors don’t know half as much as they think they do,” trope.
Part of me agrees, and this will certainly be true for some of the largest energy consortia. For all I know, Exxon and BP already have a stake in various solar manufacturers and new products in the pipeline for when the political climate changes in earnest and begins to properly tax carbon emissions.
Per the article, a solid chunk of this research is being done in a university lab. And even if it isn’t - even if a private entity like BP or Exxon somehow figured out how to build a fusion reactor all by itself - the path to riches wouldn’t be suppression. It’d be monopolization. Either this tech improves slowly,…
Fucked up, but to be fair...she takes pains to stress that it was her choice. Really highlights the difficulty of being a woman in this position; even with her employer’s support, there were no truly “good” options available:
I was about to speculate, then clicked the link...and now I’m just confused and impressed. They use bug repellent leaves before an outbreak, and switch to anti-malarial leaves when an outbreak strikes. Amazing.
Fits in with conservative ideology, though.
The conservative ability to turn literally anything into a self-congratulatory pat on the back...sometimes it’s just fucking incredible to behold.
What kinds of people typically decide to donate their corpses to the body farm? How is donation arranged prior to death?
Worth noting this judge’s history and relationship with Brett Ligon.
So far, I’d heard Trump compared—favorably—to a horse’s ass and to a laxative, and I began to imagine a Trump campaign poster that was just a big horse’s butthole spewing hot diarrhea.
Aww you beat me to it.
Aww you beat me to it.
Do smart ovens fit in this category?

Seriously. The criticism here appears to be, “It’s a terrible book because it’s too often gifted to high school and college graduates and also, too, the world is a bad and lonely place waaaaaaaah...”
I’m impressed that you found a way to drag Red Sox fans into this.
I think I get 10-12 hours of play before needing a charge, but I keep my controllers docked and haven’t pushed to the last bar in quite awhile. But compared to the battery life I got using AA batteries in my X-Box 360 controller, the PS4’s controller dies very quickly. That said, it seems pretty similar to the…

A lot of it is definitely self-serving. You can’t be a journalist without sources, and you can’t get sources if you burn the first guy to mislead you. The reality is, most sources are self-serving and pushing their own agenda. I just think this particular source took things too far.
Yeah I was also a journalism major (oops...) and that was definitely one of the things they beat into me. I had always just sort of assumed that there was an implicit promise from the source that the juicy bit of info - while not usually entirely true, and almost always self-serving - would at least be based in…
