Eh, it’s from a hilarious movie called Death Becomes Her, starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Let’s just say that both of them wished they didn’t drink the potion.

It’s amazing how desperately some commenters are looking for something to be offended by. “Wait, none of you feminazis are complaining about having to register for the draft? But I had an awesome rant about how sexist and hypocritical you all are! I know — I’ll just pretend being opposed to the draft altogether is

For what it’s worth I am married to a service member. He does everything he can for his guys and does not sit around and complain about how “useless” they are or were. Sure there are plenty of people who aren’t fit for military service but the way you frame it sounds so condescending. Also if they were already in your

I do not want to just be contrary, but almost my whole academic career has been studying places where most people firmly believed “it could never happen here”, right up until it happened. One thing I learned for sure is that it could happen tomorrow, and we are unlikely to even predict what “it” will be.

I think it would be fair if they imposed quotas on the number of women in top positions in the government and the military so that they make up 50% of decision makers.

Alternately, alternately we can attract people into our armed services via solid wages and comprehensive post-service benefits.

But I thought women couldn’t be in combat roles because we are weak/get periods/have emotions/would ruin morale/our male colleagues would have no choice but to rape us.

Bring it. I volunteered for my Army service, as part of my civic duty. I enjoy more freedoms as an American woman than women do in so many other countries—it’s only fair I be willing to sacrifice for it. Women are every bit as mentally tough as men.

It sounds fair to me. They need to take care of their rape problem first though.

alternatively, get rid of selective service altogether. If a real emergency comes up, people will volunteer, and if not, there are places for those records anyway, such as the DMV.

I feel like they expect women all over the country to clutch their pearls as they loudly gasp, “No!” and fall upon their fainting couches, when really most people will be like, “Yup, sounds fair, you gonna mail that to me, or. . . ?”

As a woman, it is hard to argue for equality without agreeing that women should have to register. So bring it on. Give us the same rights and requirements as men.

I lost it at this part. I was laughing so hard and also totally charmed by her. She is absolutely awesome.

She totally sold it. And it wasn’t just skillful dancing (though, amazing). She was so charming/cute/sexy/in charge/sly.

That was the first time I saw Lip Synch Battle and I could not believe how good they were. My god, she blew me away.

After seeing Channing and Jenna in Lip Synch battle I am fascinated with them and hope they stay together forever.
