Can’t knock those Astros. My parents had 2, my younger brothers learned to drive in ‘em (I learned in the mid-80s K car!), and my wife and I borrowed my parents’ ‘98 Astro to move my wife up here to NY and for her to drive for a few months (until we wound up buying my grandmother’s Taurus).

Beat me to it, I was gonna say: If You’re Going To Own A Sketchy Car, Make Sure You Have Good Friends - that should be the title for David Tracy’s autobiography. :P

Went to the Syracuse Chiefs (Natinals’ AAA affiliate) game today. Maybe just viewing one game, but nobody stood out on that squad, either. Well, except for the relief pitcher who grabbed a grounder, turned, and threw it past the second baseman into right-center field for NO outs instead of a possible two...

Scum floating on top seems more apt...

Even with the small field, that is impressive. Secretariat looked like he could still be pulling away if it was a 2 mile race...

I wonder if those Delaware sportsbooks will have a line on whether he really sticks to his guns and doesn’t go...

I mean, is there a point in trying to ice the virtual kicker?

I dunno if I’d call it Anne Burrell hair, but as the owner of serious bed-head who’s definitely passed it on to his 6 year old, the answer is... only somewhat. It still tends to look like “bed head that’s been wetted down a whole bunch”.

I have a book (signed and personalized by the author!) that’s a collection of columns that used to run in my hometown paper, called The Cat Ate My Nachos. (Sadly, despite the title, there are no columns in there IIRC actually about cats eating his nachos, but the rest of the stuff is pretty good.)

I would’ve thought Stonewall Jackson, but that’s just cuz I’ve read more Civil War histories, a few of which noted (amongst others) that particular eccentricity of the man.

As a Cardinals fan: WS titles are nicer, anyway :)

But is that still as true for the guys as it is for the girls?

If anime has taught me anything, it’s that LW1 needs to leave a note in her crush’s shoe locker asking him to meet her behind the school, where she must then anxiously blurt out “DAISUKI!” then blush furiously ;)

Mind you, I don’t guarantee the “exhaust melting the stabilizer” was true, just what I heard, but they *do* have pics of the testbed online:

They gotta be careful with those things. I did a six month contract at a place that was working on a subsystem for Airbus’ A400M cargo plane (the one Tom Cruise was clinging to the *outside* of for one of the recent Mission Impossible movies), and one of my team members was telling me that for testing the engines they

However, when I read stuff like this where it is nigh on sacred I can only assume that I was too old when it came out to have the life changing epiphany that it did for younger folks.

I have that problem with watching dubs after subs too many times - a child/young character (Ed in FMA:B, Luluco from Space Patrol Luluco come time mind) will sound ok in the sub, but the English VA just sounds too mature (like, Luluco just doesn’t sound middle school to me in the dub).

We tried the rubber bathmats in the shower for a while for my son to sit on, but I had to have it out when I showered - I just can’t stand all that texture under my feet (also it didn’t stick well after a while, so it felt even more insecure than the plain tub). After going through a couple (they get really nasty
