The issue was computers were programmed to read the dates by 2 digits. 97, 98, 99 etc. With this system 00 is either the beginning or the end, but it cannot be both. So when computers ticked over at the end of 99 and weren't fixed they faced logic errors. They had run out of time in a way.

The McWay Falls at the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. Seems to be the exact shot everyone makes that photographs it.

Photographing liquor bottles with the flame was a "thing to do" a couple years back. I always preferred the sturdy thickness of a Grey Goose bottle myself. The long neck makes the fire give a nice sounds as well. Plus it means you got to drink a bottle of vodka beforehand!

Were we ever really optimistic? I've always thought it was something we saw ourselves as when looking back. I think, if anything, it's more that we've lost the ability to lie to ourselves rather than we've become more pessimistic. It's easy to be optimistic when you don't know any better, and we all know too much.

It got listed first up in the Runner Up category. I quite liked the Hammer stories. Discovered them around the same time I discovered the Lost Fleet series.

She reminded me of someone else

Yeah, I realized I had forgotten I was on the internet halfway through typing it, but I figured deleting it would take too much effort. Alas.

I still think Firefly is cheating. I like the massive list of runner-ups... prevents the "but you forgot INSERSTSTORY responses."

1. Hadn't noticed the change. I'll pay more attention.

Dodge Shadow gets my vote

Probably just assumes everyone has a pirated copy.

"What does this have to do with tech news"

Yeah, that was my first thought as well. Were I to accost random people in the street and ask them who Mark Hamill was most known for, after the invariable Mark who responses, I'd bet a week's salary Star Wars is what would be the most popular response. That said... this looks awful.

That was my very first thought. Let's get this packaged up into medicine form and shipped off to him post haste.

The gravity issue is apparently separate from the Earth slowing. According to reviews of the book it's a hand-wavium moment and is never explained.

Sherlock Gnomes? Must we ride a trend into the ground every time? We've got Sherlock the series. Sherlock the movies. Sherlock that isn't really Sherlock the American series. Now an animated gnome version. I'm sure there were other less traveled stories they could have gone with. How about Gnome Quixote? Madame

It's a region thought to exist where solar wind plasma and interstellar plasma interact which causes an overabundance of neutral hydrogen.

Ah, that's the benefit of such a volcano. You'd suffer far less being at point zero.

I miss Donna.

Yeah he did. Which led to the "why did he have us go through all that" question. That led us to Amy looking at the Doctor as he adjusted his bow tie which was a call back to Amy explaining that after fixing the impossible he fixes his bow tie.
