Tonic water is usually given artificial flavoring which is why it has a calorie issue. On the plus side, it glows under a black light, so I consider it a fair trade-off.

Writing down names for their Postcards to Hell mailing list.

It actually takes about 7 stories for a cat to reach the necessary velocity. At least, that's what QI says.

I learned this courtesy of Stephen Fry and his friends on the wonderful show QI.

Nature likes to fool us with its own illusions. For example.. the setting sun:

Every time someone mentions reefs I am reminded of the short story I, Row-Boat, by Cory Doctorow. It's a story about a sentient row-boat who encounters a newly sentient reef. It's a fun little story.

It's certainly good, but I think the original was better.

Being cool isn't always about substance. Chewie could sit at a table reading a book, and he'd still be the coolest guy in the room.

But no one ever describes him as being "cool." And that was the point of the list.

Such a shame cause I always liked her over the Xena character. But then, Lucy Lawless hadn't exactly done much since Xena until Spartacus came out. So there's still time for a comeback.

Yeah, Robin doesn't get the attention he deserves. The boy wonder is certainly annoying, but as you rightly point out, without him we don't get the good ones. Unfortunately, the list was for the coolest, and Robin is the antithesis of cool.

Donna is my favorite companion, but the Brigadier is the Brigadier. Which is a problem because as you point out much of his adventures happen without the Doctor so does he really count as a sidekick?

I don't think Han can be considered a sidekick. He was a companion but never a sidekick. R2 is the closest Luke had to a sidekick and even then it doesn't really work. Luke was a loner.

I always viewed R2 as a main character who would do sidekick duties sometimes. He was more Han than Chewy. I mean, C-3PO was his sidekick. Badass character - sure. A sidekick to anyone else - not really.

No, what Phantom Menace proved was that Lucas had already reached his peak, and further encouragement for him to make more movies of beloved franchises should cease.

I quite enjoyed Wild Wild West. I've never understood the hate for it that it received. It had nothing to do with the show it was based off of, but that's something that should be expected. I thought it was funny, absurd, and good for wasting an hour and a half. I'm just glad it is up against The Happening for this

Because Lea Thompson having sex with an animatronic duck is still better than Bowser in a suit.

I really enjoyed Big Fish as well, but it was a financial flop at the theaters. It's not a matter of taste but of statistics whether a movie gets called a flop or not.

The article was referring to Serenity which was a flop in the theaters. The show that limped on was referring to Dollhouse. I don't think anyone would qualify Firefly as a flop.
