Is this a nod to Guy Debord? I think the Society of the Spectacle has a lot to offer in terms of analysis, here.

Physically, he’s not all that bad looking. There are far worse examples of chinless fucksticks out there. In his case, it’s the inner evil creeping through that makes him look bad.

I don’t think there is any “healing” to be found, but some fucking consequences would be nice.

Honestly that’s pretty low on the list of priorities of “norms” that need addressing (and never will be addressed).

The notion that we can’t do something because they will react violently needs to die, already. Pre-emptive mollification has accomplished precisely squat.

Before that. Nixon and his inner circle were pure fucking evil, and corrupt as they come. They never faced any real consequences. It’s not “healing” if the infection is never addressed.

Oh, yeah. I don’t know how people go through life being so cynical - not just in words (I’m rather cynical at times in my thought processes), but in their very behavior. You’d need to be a psychopath to go through life like that without killing yourself. Although, I suppose they are trained from birth in

I mention it not only because she was so amazing in it, but because it’s likely why she got the Sabrina role in the first place (even if they immediately set about squandering her talents).

Oh, okay. Seems odd that scientists would do such a thing. I was certainly never allowed to change parameters of an experiment midway through.

The friend who explained it to me was Thai and Theravada. He was consistently annoyed with how american’s would appropriate and misuse Buddhist concepts. But he also was annoyed with the monks who taught him and uptight people in general. Interesting guy.

The problem I’ve had with this show is that the actors don’t seem to inhabit characters, but rather caricatures. It’s disappointing when you have such talent as Kiernan Shipka (who was so very good and creepy in The Blackcoat’s Daughter), Miranda Otto, and Michelle Gomez. Having a different Sabrina take over as Queen

I’m not familiar enough with the UK rollout to speak about it, but how does it involve “academics”? Surely scientists are academics as well?

I mean, a lot of the lawsuits filed and arguments made and documented already show a decidedly anti-democratic bent. You’d have to do some serious revisionism to ignore that in history books.

McConnell is the sort of smirking douchebag that knows he’s evil, knows the majority of people know he’s evil, but is content with Machiavellian maneuvering while saying as little as possible about it (aside from the odd snide remark).

Oh, that’s absolutely how they’re rolling now. Every argument contesting the election is as anti-democratic as it gets. They’re all looking for an angle to disregard the results of a democratic election and re-install trump as god-emperor.

Holy shit that’s dumb. *faceplam*

You’re probably quite right, here. Particularly regarding Biden and expectations. The problem is that Biden is conservative enough to give in to those expectations and punch some hippies, so to speak.

It’s not just his supporters, either. There are a lot of people that don’t even like him, think he’s an idiot and asshole, etc., that still believe he’s rich and “good with money”.

How the hell do you equate fascists and theocrats with authoritarian communists (and Afghanistan, for whatever reason you lumped them in there)? The only common factor is authoritarianism/dictatorships, but those communist states were atheistic. Completely different beasts.

Well, it’s good that you clarify it as your definition, because the actual definition of karma as understood by Buddhists is quite different. I found it depressing when a Buddhist friend explained it to me, because it takes a good while to set in, and I don’t see how anyone who does shitty things would ever learn from
