Microsoft already dipped their toes into the Halo on PC scene with Halo 2, and they haven’t bothered since (with the mainline series, anyways). I’d bet that it didn’t go very well, and people are way overestimating what the demand is.

I don’t think players are moving to Fortnite exclusively because there are more players. I think most people moved over initially because Fortnite is polished and feels good to play, whereas PUBG (was, is?) a janky, buggy mess.
