I've been trying to poke holes in suggestions. I have no holes to poke here.

CS1.6: Riot shield ruined public servers and the 1.6 update ruined de_inferno. The further nerfing of the AWP (additional weapon switch delay) was unnecessary and made the game less interesting.

Quake 3 was better and both suffered from a lack of popularity problem. If not enough people play it, it's harder to find a server, which makes it less fun to play.

Portal definitely could've been longer.

The realistic ones are a dime a dozen with a very small learning curve. No one makes fast paced shooters with a learning curve like Quake any more.
